I’m not even going to bother apologizing: this weekend was the Walk MS, so there was absolutely NO WAY I had time to do the time-stamping for this week’s show. I will tell you that Nate joins us at 1:59:20, so if you want to skip ahead to that, I understand.
Being the n3rds that we are, we are of course interested in new technology. And this week certainly seemed to be a week ripe with “speedy new advancements. The first we saw was a slick new hard drive that holds 100 times more than current hard drives but without moving parts and without the loss that affects Flash memory after a time. Even more important, though, was the news that soon we could get our porn ten THOUSAND times faster! Now that’s technology I could get behind!
Being afraid to look at tall buildings from the ground let alone actually go UP in them, the idea of a building that’s TWO MILES HIGH completely freaks me out. While I am fascinated at the prospect of a Spacescraper because of my unending love of The Long Run, there’s just no way you could get me up in this building. I don’t care what insect design it seeks to emulate.
Continuing the subject of things that terrify me, the thought of being packed into a train like this ranks pretty high up there. I just can’t believe tolerate this.
I hate Ben Stiller. Always have. I haven’t liked a single performance he’s ever done, and I feel he’s the most over-rated actor and a complete hack. So it really infuriates me to see him involved in a project with Jack Black and a particularly brilliant role by Robert Downey, Jr.
We couldn’t even talk for several minutes because of our absolute disgust with the idea of grouping Jenna Jameson on the same panel with Amanda Connor and Louise Simonson. And then to have the gall to name it “Girls Who Kick Ass and NOT have Gail Simone chairing the panel? Absolutely disgusting - but completely par for the sort of stupid shit we’re seeing from the NY Comic Con.
And as long as we’re talking about things that disgust us, how could we not mention this gem of a picture? Seriously, did this guy REALLY think the picture did anything even REMOTELY flattering for him? Maybe it was his entry into psycholosers.com?
I just can’t believe the McCain Girls are for real. Unpossible.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, when you’re completely gorgeous it’s okay if you make an ass of yourself, because you still look hot doing it and nobody cares (NSFW, and you’ll want about the 2 minute mark)
And if that wasn’t hot enough for you, StrongBad’s coming to the Wii.
I don’t know what it is that makes people take such delight in sending us the absolutely most disturbing news stories ever, but I wish they’d stop (only not really, what would we talk about?).
We’ve had some exchanges with the local Star Wars fans, but I would really like to get them on the show sometime to talk about their thoughts on the controversy surrounding the Stormtrooper costumes.
I’m sure it’ll come to no surprise to you if I show you how far behind the times on the interweb I am, but I just read this brilliant Cookie Monster article and had to share it.
Our guest this week (for REAL this time!) was Nate Piekos, the generous genius behind Blambot.com and the creator of Atland. It was a real pleasure to talk to someone that had not only the comic creator perspective, but also the view from someone that’s really done an incredible amount of work to help indie creators (and even established studios!). It was also nice to talk to him without hanging up on him.
We also get into the recap of the Ben Folds concert and the incredible froodness of his band
We only had a few titles to spoil this week: GOON #23, SERENITY BETTER DAYS #2, BOOSTER GOLD #8, JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #14, TINY TITANS #3, WONDER WOMAN #19, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #556, WILD CARDS #1.

And the Walk is over for us - expect a summary to go up on GfaC some time soon. It was SUCH an incredibly great time, particularly the NeenerPalooza! We just can’t thank everyone enough, both for walking and just for supporting us - financially, emotionally and physically! We really do have some of the most incredible friends and family in the ‘verse.
Granted, only SOME of them rock at Rock Band… ;)
