Sun, 25 November 2007 Obviously, this is the best N3RDCast on record, mostly because I wasn’t there to screw it up. Ignore the really distorted theme song at the beginning - I’m not sure what was going on there, but I’m sure it’s Sexy’s fault. It probably has something to do with a wire or something. I don’t know, just listen, it sorts itself out, okay? We’ve been playing with the Marvel Comics Online subscription. They seem to have straightened out some of their problems that were frustrating me last week (like getting billed twice). It could still use some improvement, but for researching and just catching up on old stories, it’s not bad. No idea what this GI Joe movie is going to be like, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s going to suck horribly. I know, real risky prediction there, huh? Speaking of crappy movies, is there any hope left for the Justic League movie? The more I hear about it, the sadder I get. I’m sorry to hear Cable & Deadpool’s coming to an end. Although I don’t have it on my pull list, I did enjoy picking it up on occasion for a good laugh. Sexy’s pretty excited about his prize pack from his efforts for promoting the new Batman flick. I have to confess to a bit of a thrill at seeing the newspapers we got, that was a neat touch. There’s a lot of other stuff coming out now in the viralsphere, and someone with more time than any of us could spend a lot of time investigating all sorts of links and leads involved there. Sexy called in to the phone number on this show, so that’s entertaining. There’s a Futurama movie coming out, which promises to be pretty amusing. I’ll wait for video myself, but I’m sure it’ll be enjoyable. Garth Ennis is a writer we all enjoy, so this article’s well worth the read. I always enjoy hearing from him - he might not be my favorite writer, but he’s definitely a great writer and I’d put him in my top ten. I would never have guessed there’s so many sexual interests. Good thing we have a doctor of Sexology on our staff to clue us in to these things. Too bad he can’t pronounce most of them. I don’t know which one of the gang came across Catholic High School Girls In Trouble, but we’ll blame Sexy. I don’t understand the Stephanie significance in the Batverse, but here’s the discussion. It’s too late for this year, but these Thanksgiving traditions are quite amusing. CBR has some Q&A’s with Peter David that clears up my confusion over Maddrox’s dupes in the other universe’s and their orders to kill themselves so he gets their memories. If you were confused, herein lies your answer. There’s some great looking stuff coming here, and I’m excited to see what’s going to be in store for Moon Knight. Frank Cho’s all about sacrifices in order to finish his run on Mighty Avengers. HappyJack’s real pleased to hear about those sacrifices, so that makes for good listening. There is possibly the most disturbing discussion on manginas in this episode that’s ever been recorded. Not quite as disgusting as the two girls and one cup video, but pretty gross nonetheless. If you want to hear about Aquaman and his lucrative whore importing business, you can RIGHT CLICK HERE AND SAVE THE SHOW! Comments[0] |
Sun, 18 November 2007 This would be so much easier if I could blame all the technical problems we were having on something Dr. Sexy did or on Cris from CringeHumor. Cris was a little late, sure - but his five minutes being late getting us on the server had absolutely nothing to do with it taking us another THIRTY minutes to start broadcasting. Good grief, you’d think we’re amateurs or something. It’s a shame, really, because I wanted Dr. Sexy to run this show to get him ready for my absence next week. I was planning on him being able to see what a funny, professional and entertaining show can be accomplished if I’m not involved screwing things up. Unfortunately, I still managed to screw an awful lot of things up when I wasn’t even at the computer and was on the other side of the room. That be my voodoo. Once we got going, we had a lot of fun stuff to talk about. Dr. Sexy had done his usual and came to us with some follow-ups on his earlier talk of depravity. He started with I Am A Sex Addict, which is like a documentary about sex addiction if someone took Mark Borchardt, hit him in the head with a shovel, and then gave him a camera. Yeah, that’s right, I made a reference to a really obscure indy filmmaker. Google him yourself, you lazy whores! I can’t say that I’ve ever seen Sex Toys with Katie Morgan on HBO, which is a shame because from Sexy’s description it sounds fascinating. Although the idea of a steam-powered vibrator seems a bit…frightening, to say the least. I can’t find a single bit about it on HBO, though, so maybe I’m looking at the wrong network. I’ll check with Sexy - the man’s library of strange sex shows is truly impressive, so who can say where this gem was unearthed. Newsarama reposted the Diamond Direct Market Sales Charts and Market Share Report, and it’s a fascinating read for those of us interested in the business side of the comic book universe. Lot of charts, though, so brace yourself. Speaking of - The Queers have called down the thunder! Well, not really - but they DID completely misquote us in this show and make us look like even bigger ignoramuseseses than we actually are, which is saying something. Since Steve is unemployed and needs a job, it’s obvious that to make things right, he has to come be our Cabana Boy. I’m not sure what that’s going to entail, but I assure you diapers will be involved. Just like N3RDs everywhere, we all believe Bruce Campbell is a deity. Of what, we’re not sure, but it’s probably of Macho Manhood and Rugged Good Looks. But anytime we hear he’s got a new project in the works it’s always exciting - keep your fingers crossed with us! I have very fond memories of Ghostbusters on the Commodore 64, so it’s tough to believe that another game could ever come close to how awesome it was, but this does look damn sexy. Plus, much of the original cast is returning, so yaay. Japan does a lot of crazy shit, we all know that. But honestly - Robots Battle Raper TWO? Was the first one really that successful? What a strange country. Comes from eating dried squid, you know. I was really excited to see that the low low price of $60 was enough to buy me a year’s access to thousands of old Marvel titles. And then it turned into $120… Honestly Marvel, I’m perfectly willing to understand you don’t have a strong web development division. That’s fine, one more department you’d have to fire when Joe drives you all into the dirt. But you can’t hire someone to do a better job than this? It seems like it should be a straight-forward experience. FIX IT NOW NOW NOW! And get Ghost Rider in there so I can bask in the awesomeness of Water Wizard. Dr. Sexy was foaming at the mouth with excitement over Lego Batman. I have to agree; after the fine job they’ve done with the Star Wars license I’m pretty excited to see how awesome this game could be. Er - WILL be. Anson is the man, we all know that (but don’t anyone tell him, it’ll go to his tiny head). He’s the man THIS time because he actually approached me before I sent out any annoying emails and asked if he could start a satellite Team N3 MS Walk team. I believe he’s in Charlotte, NC, so if you’re near there and want to get involved (or if you’re somewhere else and want to create your own Team N3 goonsquad) let us know! The Noisies are always cause for a ruckus. Mostly because it drives Sexy and HappyJack crazy that I never know any artists other than Alex Ross (and Ariel Olivetti, of course). There’s some people’s choice categories that could use some input, so make sure you check them out! Just remember - KomicsKast is spelled with K’s! Don’t ask me about this movie. I can’t believe Sexy and HappyJack watch the cartoon. Give me Bugs Bunny any day. Comments[0] |
Sun, 11 November 2007 So we won't be replacing the Ghostbusters anytime soon. We had a wonderful time doing the ghost hunt at Bube's Brewery, but our hunting proved very unsuccessful. It's probably mostly my fault because I have a terrible time taking these things seriously. It's not that I want to be disrespectful, it just sort of comes out. Bube's was a great place and very much the perfect setting for a good ghost story. If you're in the area, I highly recommend checking it out - and if you plan it right, you can see the most horrific sight imaginable - the Daredevils of Comedy. AbleGamers have always been good friends of the N3RDs, so if you can spare a few bucks, drop over and help them get a booth at the IGDA conference! The Neal Adams cover for All-Star Batman & Robin #8 is amazing. I'm sad to say I first looked at it and completely missed Batman in there. I'm such a genius... Ronald Jenkees is the man behind our awesome Halloween intro music (and the regular music we use during non-Halloween shows). That Halloween tune is up on his site for free right now, but do yourself a favor and pop the $10 for his album; the dude knows how to jam. It's always interesting when any of the big companies land exclusives. I wonder what sort of money is involved in landing these exclusives? I can guess it's not as much as they could make solo, but it does have health insurance and other such minor important things that go with it. Still, I'd love to hear juicy details about these sorts of deals. You can never have enough Gail Simone news, and today's is that Wonder Woman #14 features the husband/wife art team of Terry and Rachel Dodson. Honestly, I don't know anything about them, but you can throw anything up and add Gail Simone to the subject and I'm excited. I really love GeeksOn. They had a fantastic discussion this week on Bionics vs. Cybernetics vs. Evolution. If that's the sort of subject that interests you and you'd like to hear Geeks talking about things without profanity and stupidity ( ie, the opposite of us) then this is a show you should check out. We were impressed that Tim Kring admitted the writing on Season Two sucked. That's a tough thing to do, being honest like that. I haven't watched the show since the second or third episode of season two, but I hope to get caught up soon. Everyone else has discussed Dog, so we had to jump on the bandwagon. Mostly just to marvel over his idea to be buried with slaves. Brilliant, that guy... They say this blurb about the Joker is a spoiler, but it doesn't seem to be giving too much info away. Since we did the Joker Army thing, obviously we're excited about this. I really respect people that work hard on good comic book costumes. Having said that, I don't respect an awful lot of these folks... That Last Starfighter cabinet is possibly the coolest thing in the world. I don't think the N3RD Studios will ever be complete until we have that thing here. It was an interesting (albeit dry) read to see how Marvel's earnings are broken down. If you've got time to spare, I think it's worth giving it a quick read-through. For taking pride in being N3RDs ourselves, we sure do seem keen on mocking other n3rds for what they believe/enjoy. But with these folks, I honestly can't help it. Kaigon shared that with me last week and I've been chortling ever since. I apologize for ever sharing two girls one cup with everyone listening. In my defense, I had no idea what I was in for, and it started so nice with two pretty girls kissing. How could that be wrong, right? You'll notice there's no link to that in this post, nor will there EVER BE. I'm REALLY hoping we had more luck encoding this show. I'd like to be able to use that fancy PuPuPlayer, and the CringeHumor site uses a Flash player, so it would sure be nice if people could actually listen to the show easily through those things. Keep your fingers crossed! But for those of you tech-savy folks, CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE SHOW! Comments[0] |
Sat, 3 November 2007 Titles we might spoil this week: 52 AFTERMATH THE FOUR HORSEMEN #3 (OF 6), ACTION COMICS #858, BATMAN #670, JACK OF FABLES #16 (MR), JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #10, DAREDEVIL ANNUAL #1, NEW X-MEN #43, GREEN ARROW YEAR ONE #6. Guests this show are: our friend and frequent N3RD Steven Hager, writer of the awesome Dutch Digest and extremely knowledgeable about the classic horror films; and Keith Gleason, who N3RDs will know is one of the creative geniuses behind Hero Envy. More importantly, Keith is a HUGE horror film fan, and this show is going to focus on some classic horror themes (still building up excitement for the N3RD Busters, our trip to haunted Bube’s Brewery!). I can’t say how much I love Alan Moore’s work. The guy is an absolute genius of a writer… But apparently - as a person - he’s completely fucking insane. I don’t just mean he’s a hairy beast; I mean he is a completely obnoxious, arrogant guy that thinks he’s the Messiah of Comics. Dr. Sexy is really excited about the idea of all of us posing for a smiley pic I can’t think of a lot of scary moments in the Marvel Universe, but here’s a list of some good ones. We were all pretty keen on Fraction’s choice - who’d expect a Spidey title to be so full of chills? The Wanted trailer is pretty sweet looking. I hope it lives up to the hype! I can’t even accomplish the FIRST step in the 300 workout; I don’t really know how anyone can finish the whole thing. With my luck, the day that I’m actually able to complete that workout would be the day the Persians show up. I’ve been trying new encoding to get the show to play in those damn flash players correctly, but I still don’t think I’ve got it right. I can’t figure out the stupid encoding - curse you, flash! But this is the direct link to download the show (yes, newbs, click the underlined part!) Comments[0] |
