The N3RDCast
Our weekly discussion on Comic Books (FULL of spoilers!), MMORPGs, gaming, comics, and geekdom in general.

This week we suffer through more over-stepping bugs in Pamela (do NOT buy that software, it blows), hating phones vs networks, pay phones sucked just as bad (and gave you VD), new anatomy terms (Loveshack and Mangina), going back to church/Sunday School, not drinking, cold showers, Army stories chronicling Kwip's asshole-ness, the dubya dubya dot com wars, suggestions for an 80s comic fan that wants to get back into comics, Marvels Super Squad sucks, a HUUUGE discussion on comic book piracy, digital comics, and some fun voicemails. Comics we spoil this week include: AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #611, BATMAN #693, BATMAN AND ROBIN #6, DEADPOOL #17, THE MUPPET SHOW: THE TREASURE OF PEG LEG WILSON #4, VENGEANCE OF THE MOON KNIGHT #3

I don't know what the Hell the problem with the Pamela recording software is. But I would DEFINITELY advise you against buying it - you can hear how badly it screws up our recordings, making it sound like I have some kind of freaky precognition ability to step over Dr. Sexy's lines and respond before he even speaks. It could be a neat effect. Kind of like a really terrible premise for a sci-fi show, which I'm sure SyFy(iLuS) will pick it up and make a new series about. However, as someone incredibly desperate to just have ONE FUCKING SHOW without a technical glitch, I feel comfortable telling you the effect is shit. I might give it a break if anyone from their support staff would answer my message on their support forums, but they chose instead to ignore it, so they can go eat alllll the cocks. And their shitty software.

In theory, Marvel's Super Squad could be a lot of fun. In practice, it sucks.

Comic piracy is definitely a topic that needs to be discussed, and certainly by much more intelligent people. However I feel comfortable in stating that if digital comics were a buck, I would definitely have a lot more of them on my iPhone (and if you have one or an [even better] Android, you definitely need to get American Terror). If you don't have one of them and still want the digital experience, why not check out the Pimptastic Shawn (Stan Leeroy) Pryor's Mercury and the Murd? C'mon, it's ONE DOLLAR. What a deal!

I'm fond of the new anatomy terms we invent this week. Expect to be tested next week.

It's a shame the HappyJack wasn't here to chime in about going back to Sunday School. Oh, and about comic piracy. But mostly about Sunday School...

Things we discuss this week include how horrible Steakums are, easy bachelor food, movie reviews featuring GI Joe, Transformers 2, Orphan and Season 2 of Dexter, dioramas, results of the practical jokes, voicemail from Jason Becker, and more talk about our 4th anniversary special. Comics we discuss this week include SECRET SIX #15, DOOM PATROL #4, CAPTAIN AMERICA REBORN #4, HEROGASM #6, THE BOYS #36, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #30.

You can probably tell we record the show before breakfast, as the talk is immediately side-tracked into the realm of food. And I think it’s an agreed-upon opinion that Steak-Ums are perhaps the biggest rip-off in the fat guy foods category. Totally misleading! Don’t fall for the hype, folks – if you want a good cheesesteak, get your own slicer and stead and make that shit from scratch!

I’m glad to hear that Transformers 2 is even worse than I had imagined. I have a very strong imagination, you see. And to hear that it is SO bad that it actually made Dr. Sexy fast-forward through most of it? Hilarity.

As we mention in the show, our 4th anniversary is coming up some day soon. Not sure when we’ll specifically celebrate it, but I think we’re going to try and do a big blast for it. We’re talking guest stars, guests hosts, and possibly even guest listeners. You know you want to come to the party. Erm. Do you want to come to the party?

This weeks show features a discussion of our 'dream' N3RDCast line-up (using the Howard Stern show as a template), excitement for Shawn Pryor to start his own podcast, more love for Amber Love, movie reviews, good zombie flicks, Ninja Clown Monster, still more technical woes, The DC Comics Guide to Digitally Drawing Comics, The Gay Bed and Breakfast of Terror, practical joking neighbors, Kwips L4D2 review, fun playing as zombies in L4D, William Dafoe the inappropriate taxi driver, our favorite porn site and baby revelations to the families. Comics we discussed this week include: AVENGERS THE INITIATIVE #29, FANTASTIC FOUR #572, NEW AVENGERS #58, DETECTIVE COMICS: BATWOMAN #858, GOTHAM CITY SIRENS #5, WONDER WOMAN #37, ARKHAM REBORN #1. Stan sent me an email asking if we were to re-cast the show in the model of the Howard Stern show, what would our 'dream' cast look like. I think the answers are pretty funny - but I'd love to hear from other folks. Got an idea? Send us an email or leave a voicemail with your dream cast! One thing I'd love to do is hire (with all our millions) Shawn Pryor to come be on the show. Unfortunately, he's starting his own podcast, and I'm sure it'll have ten times our listeners by it's first show. Dr. Sexy is flying along with his Cintiq efforts, but he's become a strong advocate for The DC Comics Guide to Digitally Drawing Comics by Freddie Williams II. If you're one of them fancy digital-artiste types, you might want to check it out. And speaking of checking out - check out the video Christine stumbled across. I'm not sure if it's any good, but judging by the music video, it might possibly be the greatest movie ever made... I think we can all agree that if you're scared of clowns, you probably shouldn't watch this video. However, if you're NOT scared of clowns, it's definitely worth watching. HappyJack's been talking up Boneshaker to me, and it definitely sounds like something I want to check out. If you're into steampunk and zombies, you might want to give it a try. And just for Dr. Sexy - Rumpshaker.

This week we kick HappyJack off of the show. But since it's our last show anyway, it's kind of an empty threat. And speaking of empty - Dr. Sexy's testes are NOT, as he has spawned! The lovely Sexretary is expecting, so the N3RD clan continues to grow! The stupid recording software is back to being buggy, so of COURSE there's that goofy overstepping bug yet again. We also discuss Dr. Sexy's inception into Google Wave (without Kwip), what you have to do to get an invite from him, gay scrubs, Stan Lee's Jane Pym was a whore, great costume ideas, robot friends, Kwip hates how Renn Faire treats it's actors, more Jumpgate talk, the crazy Serenity Big Damn Model, Left4Dead 2, L4DMST3K, and very sexy costumes. Comics we discuss this week include: MIGHTY AVENGERS #30, COWBOY NINJA VIKING #1, POE #4. The best part about Halloween is the number of very attractive friends that we have who find the holiday a GREAT excuse to really whore it up. Seriously, there were some VERY hot chicas at the costume party last night, and that's almost as good as the delicious treats that were served. Out of the two, I'd probalby go with the treats as being my favorite part, since I'm allowed to partake of them... We put together probably my mostest favoritest costume for Kwipette yet this year. It's a shame if you're not her friend on facebook, because she posted the pics of her awesome costume (and some of the cuties at the party) on her facebook page. If you're not a QMx Insider, perhaps you haven't heard about The Big Damn Replica. In which case, allow me to warn you: it is a tale of heartbreak, of love that can never be (even with a $500 discount), and of remote controlled lights. It would look SOOOO good in my display case, too... If you're not cool enough to know about Google Wave, then just take our word for it that it is a pretty incredible thing and you desperately want to be part of it. In fact, you want to be a part of it SOOO badly, you'll send Dr. Sexy nekkid pics to secure yourself one of his invites. If you're anywhere near Kwip for any amount of time, chances are he's cornered you to blather on about how great Jumpgate is. But if you were a Wing Commander, X-Wing or Freespace fan, you owe it to yourself to play Jumpgate. It's only $10 a month, and while the graphics are a bit dated, it really is a fantastic game. Dust off your joystick (and while you're at it, you can click on the "Watercooler" link at the top of the page to get to the JoystickRequired.com forums where all your Jumpgate questions will be answered!). Sorry about that stupid overlapping bug. I don't know what the hell is up with the Pamela recording software, but at this point I feel comfortable saying it's a piece of shit and not to invest in it. Yes, it does have some nice features, but if the absolute most BASIC feature - recording two people conversing - fails, then what the hell is the point? Big congrats to Dr. Sexy and the Sexretary on their succesful mating! Now to start planning on how we're going to corrupt the child...

We drop the call about twenty times this show. But while we do manage to talk, we talk about Coffee vs Pot as a creative aide, criticism on the Zuda selection process, rainy days, radiator mishaps, Baltimore recap from Dr. Sexy, the incredible video American Terror: Company Man, Left4Dead antics on new maps, Where the Wild Things Are, Zombieland, comics on iTune/Comixology and Kwip's mic is still the loudest. Books we talk about this week include: BLOODY PULP MINI-COMIC, SPIDER-MAN: THE CLONE SAGA, SECRET SIX #14, ZOMBIE SURVIVAL GUIDE RECORDED ATTACKS, DEADPOOL #900.

You know we love the American Terror book by Jeff McComsey, but you have GOT to check out the animated short based on it. There's so much awesomeness in it, I don't even know where to begin - but I'll start with how awesome it is to see this produced locally here in Lancaster, PA. Woot!

The Family Guy Superfriends Intro Dr. Sexy talks about is hilarious.

Because I like words, I was baffled by the concept of speaking in pictographs, but if you check out Araknid Kid you'll probably love it as much as Dr. Sexy does - and now that I've read it, I definitely love it, also! So that's a ringing endorsement, see?

It's true that while Dr. Sexy and HappyJack have been slacking, I've been hard at work refining my zombie hunting skills. I've got three new maps I got from the excellent L4DMaps.com website that are now in regular rotation:
Death Aboard
Death Stop
The Arena of the Dead

If you're a zombie hunter (and you don't mind a little LOT OF friendly fire), let us know!

I wish there were something else we discussed during this show, but honestly, the discussion rarely veered off-topic. Kaigon and I share a deep-seated guilt complex that just doesn’t let up: we are assholes. We have been evil, vile men our entire lifetimes, and there is no redemption for us. Your best bet is to stop associating with us right now.

The pussoy is this little gem of an ad that Kaigon found:
Pussoy

Seriously, can you see anything else in that image? Or are we the only pervs?

Although the lag problem seems to have been fixed, I still vastly overpower Kaigon in the recording, so I had to rely upon Levelator once again. Apologies for how it distorts the sound oddly in some places. But not really, because – hello, asshole? Remember?

This is our (real) Pittsburgh Comic Con recap, where we've had some time to make notes about our experiences and discuss the events and people that really stood out. As always, Pittsburgh continues to be our favorite con, this year made more so by Antonion, Eric, Shawn, the other Shawn, Donny, Jorge, Jeff, Dom, CGS, Elizabeth Amber, Jim and Adam from Legion Of Dudes podcast, Semen-filled tubs & black mold: NEVER EVER STAY AT THE MONROESVILLE DAYS INN, Southern California Paranormal Research Society Team interviews Kwip, HappyJack's "Boom Tube," Dave Wachter is a FUNNY man (and awesome artist), the SHERIFF, the incredible Joe Jusko (vs. the idiot man-child Kwip), imPhotoGraphics.com do AWESOME banners, Denny's pancake balls, Carl's Tavern, booth etiquette, and taunting HappyJack into wrecking his van.

If you're looking for banners of any sort, check out our friend Devyn's company, http://www.imphotographics.com. I can't say enough good things about him - the banners were fantastic, and he really went out of his way to correct a problem (including giving us a FREE banner!). Great guy, super customer support, GREAT PRICES! Tell 'em the N3RDS sent ya!

Oh, and the awesome Steampunker we met was Zebulon Vitruvius Pike.

PS - F'ing Zach, there are crickets in this episode, so you probably shouldn't listen or your vagina will hurt....

The sound quality's a little rough and we don't go NEARLY into the detail that everyone loves in our recaps, but we promise that will come later. We had a fantastic time, and we have a LOT of great stories to tell you. But this will get your appettite wet with a brief overview of the con!

This week we discuss how troubling it is when attractive, funny, intelligent and talented women debase themselves by listening to our show (Amber, we're talking about YOU), the end of the world via thunderstorms, Fallen Justice #1 on the iPhone, American Terror 1-2 on the iPhone, ComiXology still rules, Celtx is an incredible screen writing app, You Look Nice Today is a hilarious podcast, Film Riot puts out superb videos, big boots, taking the girls to the movies, women stupider than Megan Fox, stuffed burger madness v2.0, welfare cheese, high school janitor hilarity, dropping some favs from Twitter, sweating on the toilet, Army bands, and comics. Seriously, Amber has no business being one of our listeners. Not only is she incredibly hot, but she does awesome comics reviews. Seriously, go watch this, and tell me you don't want to make wildly innappropriate comments to her (don't worry, I've got you covered!). If you've been suffering through Word's TERRIBLE script formatting because you couldn't afford the fancy script programs, you need to check out Celtx. It's incredible - AND FREE! Speaking of incredible, You Look Nice Today is an incredibly funny podcast that you really need to be listening to. And not only do you need to listen to Film Riot, you need to watch their videos. Even if you're like me and know nothing about making videos, their clips are incredibly entertaining and very very funny. And thanks to Ryan Connolly of Film Riot for introducing me to this REALLY cool toy. It's a crazy color scanner thing for Flickr. Great fun to play with!

We have two great interviews this week: first up, Jorge Vega joins us on the phone and Jeff McComsey actually braves the studio to talk about their awesome entry into the Zuda webcomics competition, Bloody Pulp (http://bit.ly/p1WRE). They also suffer through our usual rambling and fart jokes. Next, we call Eric Houston to talk about his most excellent book, The Comic Book Podcast Companion (http://bit.ly/VMKko). Eric is a lot of fun to talk to and did a great job on that book, so check it out! We also discuss a few books that came out this week, some excellent Becker phone calls (of course!) and reveal our NEW N3RDCast hotline!

This is possibly one of the funnest 'casts we've done in a while. It's only a very brief recap Saturday night before HappyJack had to leave and then a mere two interviews, but they are with fantastic people! First, the legendary sci-fi icon Erin Gray - yes, THE Col. Wilma Deering - joins Kwip and tries to keep off his slobber, and then Dr. Sexy and Kwip have a sit down with one of the greatest writers on the market today, Joe Kelly.

There were a number of interruptions during the interviews, but rather than try and edit them out, we left them in because they added to the fun of the situation! We have a HUUUUUGE list of books to talk about from this show. We actually (mostly) behaved (despite the best efforts of Digital Pimp to get us drunk!) and managed to spend most of our money on all new books that we can't wait to talk to you about, but wait we shall! Next week we'll discuss our new books. This week, 2 really fun interviews!

I'm reposting this because the f'ing feed doesn't seem to be updating from the incorrect May 18th episode. Honestly, though, that one was a lot better than this one, so I don't know why people are complaining. If you can actually make it the whole way through, you're a better listener than I, because I got disgusted and turned it off (after Becker's voicemail, of course)... HappyJack has left us high and dry as he tries to hide the bodies at his house and otherwise make it sellable. I’d like to see the DiY channel do a show on THAT. But loyal Croft comes through in a bind, driving a ridiculous amount of time just to be abused and taken adventage of - which is basically what we’re here for, so it all works out.

My never-ending love song for Google adds a new verse this month: Google Voice should be coming by the end of this month. Built from the back of GrandCentral, it’s an impressive collection of services and one more step towards Google’s eventual world-dominance (and I can’t wait).

I do find it disturbing that after so long of mocking PnP players Gabe has taken up the cause so fervantly. I guess it should be encouraging - an incredibly visual person has been brought over to the flock, converted to the greatness that is running a game based mostly on imagination, dice and math. But of course he can’t go quietly - he’s using the Dwarf Fortress sets. While I get their appeal to a miniatures game, I’m still an old-fashioned graph-paper n3rd. But those are some damn cool looking sets.

The Apple Netbook rumors have taken hold once again. While I think it’s incredibly cool, I still want a Kindle2 more. No, it can’t do everything a Mac Netbook could do. But I have a laptop. I don’t need a netbook!

How awesome is Sharis Van Sciver? I wonder if her cape gets caught in the car when she’s driving. Or maybe she just flies everywhere? Inquiring minds want to know. Seriously, though, if you haven’t read that story, go take a peek at a better person than I will ever be. Not that this is saying much…

Do you really need someone to tell you that dressing up like the Joker and pointing a shotgun at the police is not going to end well? I think that story would have been better had he actually dressed up like the Cesar Romero Joker. That I could have at least respected.

Brad Smoley, friend of Ziggy and Corey (I screwed up his name again - what is this mental block I have against the poor man?), has launched a site for his hilarious comic based on the suffering of Ziggy and Tinsdale at various cons. There’s also a cartoon, which we’ve mentioned in the past, but you should check out the site, great stuff.

And of course, we have our weekly Left4Dead discussion.

This week’s Comics N3RDCast is really more about the N3rd than it is the comics, since it was a very light week for everyone. We still manage a few titles to spoil: THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ #4, FABLES #82, INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #11, RESIDENT EVIL #1.

Show Notes (thanks Croft!):

If you haven’t picked up this album yet, you really should - it’s a fantastic listen, chock full of nods to Browncoats & BSG fans & numerous geekery references!

Ahoy hoy, dedicated listeners! Kwip here - but I’m crazy swamped at work (to the point where I can’t even browse porn! Poor me!), so Croft has graciously stepped in to help us with the show notes - everyone say “Thank you, Croft!”

At the end of this episode, you may think we really should change the name of the N3RDcast to the R4P3cast, or some variation of that.

It starts with some vague talks of Watchmen, which most of us had seen opening day. This part is pretty much spoiler-free. Warning to listeners, a spoiler-filled conversation takes place after the outro music. Along with that come some talks of conventions and the things that stand in the way of going to them. Also, rumors about the Wizard World Philadelphia being canceled.

Marian Call is a brilliant songstress, but with Mac’s help she’s also got an awesome music video.

Then the show took a sudden turn for the worse with the mentioning of a rape video game in Japan called Rapelay. It’s all downhill from there with robots that have feelings yet don’t know when to stop, and another voice mail from a Jason Becker with a bad French Canadian accent. Not to worry, no other characters from the Multiverse Party Line made an appearance.

The show gets back on track as we catch up with Happyjack after being gone for 2 weeks. Of course there’s more discussion about Left 4 Dead, which will never get old (that’s a lie, probably).

Kwip and HappyJack give the plumbing tip of the week. Also, funny stories about listening to/working at college radio stations that turns into talks about why Dr. Sexy can’t get into metal, HappyJack hates Led Zeppelin, Rush and pretty much any other good classic rock bands, and who would win in a battle of Axel Rose versus Robert Plant.

Titles spoiled this week include: SECRET SIX #7, SOLOMON GRUNDY #1, BATMAN: CACOPHONY #3, ULTIMATE WOLVERINE Vs. HULK #3, SHRAPNEL #3, DRESDEN FILES #3, NO HERO #4, DEADPOOL #8, THE GOON #32, SPIDER-MAN & THE HUMAN TORCH IN…BAHIA DE LOS MUERTOS! #1 (one-shot), THE BOYS #29, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #23, X-MEN/SPIDER-MAN #4, THE MIGHTY #2, TERROR TITANS #6, AGENTS OF ATLAS #2, and SECRET WARRIORS #2.

The show breaks down like this:
0:35 “Are we recording yet?”
3:25 The Proper Start
6:35 Marian Call is pretty
8:05 Conventions
13:30 R4P3cast
22:20 Voice Mail
26:30 Home Improvement (minus Tim Allen)
30:30 DVDs
36:35 Crunk Glass
39:00 Left 4 Dead (Again)
45:40 Sweet Jimmy Keeps it going
50:10 N3RDmetal
54:00 1985 Axel Rose VS. 1975 Robert Plant
55:00 Comics
1:32:30 Pee Break
1:34:10 Secret Watchmen discussion

Our closing theme is the awesome “I’ll Still Be a Geek After Nobody Thinks It’s Chic (The Nerd Anthem)” from Marian Call’s new album, Got To Fly. Jason Becker is responsible for a lot of things, but he is certainly the foil in this episode. In fact, we start off the show discussing one of the more disturbing things he’s sent us recently (and that’s really saying something). And no, I won’t link to it. Gross.

Everyone knows Ben Folds, and I highly recommend going to see him if he comes to your area. But in addition to his awesomeness, you should check out Miniature Tigers. They’re a great group of guys and I really love their music. This show features a number of samples from their latest album, so enjoy!

With everything that’s been going on this year, Team N3RD won’t be rocking the MS Walk in ‘09. We’re taking a little break to get ourselves recovered. With the insanity of the end of ‘08 and the start of ‘09, there was just no way we could coordinate anything big this year. But don’t let that dismay you! If you have money burning a whole in your pocket, feel free to donate to the “Buy Dr. Sexy a Cintiq, Kwip a Kindle 2, and HappyJack more antipsychotics Walk!”

I’m very interested to get my copy of The Comic Book Podcast Companion. In addition to the ten characters it spares us, Eric Houston (the author) interviewed the guys from Comic Geek Speak, Quiet! Panelologists At Work and the Comic Book Queers (among others!). So it focuses on the greats, but also has advice about hardware and software setups (from what I understand).

Normally we are the victims of Jason Earl Becker’s telephone antics, but for some reason madness overtook us this show and we decided to turn the tables a bit. Thus is born the Multiverse Party Line! Normal people will probably want to skip from 24:15 to 37:15, but that segment had me laughing pretty hard during edits. Just be careful come 31:10 - Grant Morrison is SUCH a noisy bitch!

We talk a little about the great Brian Keene, a great local horror writer. Brian’s a great guy, and, even better, he’s plotting to kill our very own Pulsar. Always good for a laugh!

Titles we spoil this week include: BATMAN THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #2, JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #24, TEEN TITANS #68, WONDER WOMAN #29, AVENGERS INITIATIVE #22, CAPTAIN AMERICA #47, DR DOOM MASTERS OF EVIL #2, MIGHTY AVENGERS #22, NEW AVENGERS #50, THUNDERBOLTS #129.

The show breaks down like this:
2:45 - Ben Folds & The Miniature Tigers
7:00 - Ben Folds radius
9:45 - Dr. Sexy overtakes Woody
10:50 - Chiro is good for the soul
12:10 - No Team N3RD in ‘09
15:20 - Comic Podcast Companion
18:00 - Voice Mails
24:15 - Turning the tables on Becker
31:10 - Turn the volume down for Grant Morrison!
37:15 - Comics
1:02:45 - Circuit City pickings
1:05:00 - Brian Keene rules
1:05:40 - Ted Stoltz must die

Our closing theme is the awesome “I’ll Still Be a Geek After Nobody Thinks It’s Chic (The Nerd Anthem)” from Marian Call’s new album, Got To Fly. If you haven’t picked up this album yet, you really should - it’s a fantastic listen, chock full of nods to Browncoats & BSG fans & numerous geekery references!

I think it’s safe to say that Left4Dead has taken over most of our lives, waking and dreaming. It really is a perfect game, and I highly recommend it to you. If you’re on Steam, give us a holler - we’ll have to set up some matches.

I have also been playing the HELL out of DDO lately when I’m not rocking L4D. I actually have some stories to post about it, and one of these days I might get around to doing so. Along those lines, I snuck in some WoW time, too, so maybe I’ll get TWO stories up…

As Gail pointed out, the creator of Planet Karen lost EVERYTHING in a fire recently (including an upstairs neighbor!), so if you can help, head over to http://planetkaren.girl-wonder.org/ and donate. Even $5 will help!

I’m very excited about the news that Keith Giffen’s taking over Doom Patrol. That was a great team book and it will definitely be a great addition back into the DCU.

Derek listens to WAAAAY too many comic book podcasts - and that’s coming from ME! But we were happy to be featured in one of his latest episodes.

One of Kwipette’s friends is a chiropractor, and she recently agreed to undergo the trauma that is having to come into physical contact with me. I have now seen her exactly twice and my back feels - well, if not great, at least damn good and the best that someone sleeping on a futon couch every night could expect! I’m definitely an advocate for chiropractors - at least, reputable ones. Although I don’t really know how to tell the difference… So maybe I’ll just say I’m an advocate of HOT chiropractors?

Dr. Bruce, the godfather of comic book podcasts, is never one to steer us wrong. But I think he greatly underestimated my loathing for manga in his recommendation of Pluto and 20th Century Boys for me. Maybe if they were in the $5-10 range I MIGHT have picked one or the other to read, but no way am I risking OVER $10 on potential loathing!

We have to fire up Skype again one of these days and get back to talking to some creators. We’ve had some good ones in the past, and it’d be nice to get M. Sean McManus back to re-do his awesome interview that was tragically lost in the mists of my ineptness.

Speaking of my ineptness, you’ll notice this show cuts off abruptly. That’s because I forgot to wipe the memory card, so we ran out of room. HA! Hilarity! And you thought our technical woes were over when we went to just using one piece of equipment!

And no, sorry Evil Mormon Becker, you’ll just need to go ahead and get with raping our loved ones.

The show breaks down like this:

3:30 - Bicycling zombie dreams
12:30 - Chicks dig L4D
15:20 - D&D Online
18:15 - Planet Karen
19:30 - Keith Giffen’s back on Doom Patrol
20:10 - Featured on Comic Book Noise
23:45 - No Philly show for Sexy!

27:00 - Plea to Eli

34:00 - Chiroporn
43:30 - Comics talk
1:16:30 - Kwip hates Manga
1:17:00 - Invite extended to M. Sean McManus

I never watched Psych prior to last week, but I think this is a show I’m either going to start watching, or - preferably - pick up the DVDs. It’s very funny and clever (at least one episode is!), and makes fun of gullible people.

HappyJack’s equally as impressed with United States of Tara, and while I like the premise, there’s just no way I’m upping my cable subscription to catch one show.

Dollhouse premiered to a lot of mixed reviews - most of them negative from what I’ve heard. HappyJack wasn’t overly impressed with it, but he is going to keep watching it, so we’ll see what he thinks.

If you’re in the area, make sure you join us at the Lehigh Valley Comic Con. It’s a TINY con, but a very cool one - great deals to be had, a lot of good folks AND HOT DOGS! But if you don’t make it to that, you have GOT to come down for the CGS’ Super Show, which is now pushed back to March of 2010.

I won Jon’s bum from The Hat Decides, but being that we are generous souls and want to spread the love around, we’re giving ownership of Jon’s bum to The Comic Book Queers! They would certainly treat it much better than us, so Jon should be deeply relieved.

Eli is getting married soon, but I refuse to believe it. He’s one of the last bachelors, and he had much better prospects than most of us combined. I REFUSE to believe he’s going to leave all that opportunity behind to tie himself down to ONE vagina FOREVER!

Or a couple years, something like that…

If you didn’t get a Valentine’s greeting, why not take a moment to print your own?

We love Chris Eliopolus‘ work on any number of projects, but we’re all excited about the idea of Pet Avengers.

We all read webcomics, but finding the gems in the trash is sometimes a real challenge. Joe Loves Crappy movies did a very good one for Taken. Any time you get to call kids “dicks” is ok in my book!

The mug we’re talking about is this fine Mumblepuss mug (the large, frosted one) which I purchased from the Mumblepuss Zazzle store. If you won’t more rudeness, then check out Leadslinger’s store for your own gaelic cursing tshirt!

Show Breakdown:
3:40 - Reviewing the Mumblepuss Zazzle gear
5:15 - Tax talk
9:10 - PvP Online is grayscale now
11:00 - Printing talk
14:55 - No super show this year
20:15 - Wii!
24:11 - Left4Dead
29:15 - Psych

The show picks up after we’ve listened to a few voicemails from Jason Becker. Our opening comments don’t convey exactly what Becker says: he doesn’t hate crossovers in general, but the greed-fueled ridiculous crossovers that have become so prevalent nowadays. He left us about 10 minutes of voicemails to that effect, and while we agree whole-heartedly, we didn’t have time to play them all. We had important things (like broken pickle jars in uncomfortable places) to talk about. I’m sure he’ll follow up in the comments with how we’ve misquoted him, so he’ll clarify it for you.

If you haven’t seen the trailer for Batman: Arkham Asylum, make sure you check it out. Although we don’t like the voice talent they use, it looks really damn cool.

We’ve been consistently disappointed in how Reed Exhibitions has run NYCC, but we’re probably in the minority. And now they’re going to start up a Chicago Con, which will probably really screw over the Wizard World Chicago Con - but since that’s no longer being referred to as a “Wizard World” con, perhaps they’ll be filling a void if Wizard pulls out completely.

If you listened to us back in the Chaos Radio days, you’ll know who Heide is. Well, she’s finally gotten around to her own show, so make sure you give it a listen.

Unfortunately we finally catch up this week with the rest of the interwebs and have our own viewing of Glass Ass dot com. Yeah, I’m not linking to that. That thing is not fit for ANYONE. Seriously, it makes 2G1C look like a cute pug video or something. It’s truly, truly horrific, and you’re a better person for never having viewed it!

HappyJack’s children are coming to the age where they’re starting to be interested in boys. The hilarity is really going to start when they bring their first boyfriend home to meet daddy. Oh, the emotional (and possible physical!) scarring that shall ensue!

One of the coolest bits of news to come to our attention lately is that IDW is going to be publishing The Bloom County Library - complete with Berkeley Breathed’s blessing! It sounds like there’s going to be a lot of amazing features with it, also, so it’s very exciting.

On a more somber note, the Sexretary lost her father this week. Our thoughts go out to her & her family.

Titles we spoil this episode include: SECRET SIX #6, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #585, ASTONISHING TALES #1, DEADPOOL #7, FRANKLIN RICHARDS DARK REIGNING CATS & DOGS, SECRET WARRIORS #1, DEAD IRONS #1, PUNISHER WAR ZONE #6, GOLEM ONE SHOT, I AM LEGION #1, INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #10, SHRAPNEL #1, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #22, NEW AVENGERS #49, DAREDEVIL #115, MIGHTY #1, JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #23, and THE BOYS #27.

The show breaks down like this:

4:15 - Heide’s back with The Heide Show
4:55 - Broken Wangage
6:00 - College money
8:50 - HappyJack’s children will soon start dating

Dr. Sexy and I (and our giant posse) took the mountains this weekend! We were camping at some cabins in French Creek state park, and we took time out from our vicious Munchkin matches and mountains of junk food to record a show.

This show is a bit of a departure from our usual ‘casts because A) we don’t normally have so many people there, and B) we don’t spend much time talking about comics. Erm… Ok, so this IS like a normal show…

We played a TON of Munchkin this weekend. We had almost all of the expansions, so it really made for a fun time. Definitely a recommended activity for cabin living!

At about the 56-minute mark, we start discussing some spooky stories from our youth. We had the lights turned off and a single candle lit, so if you can, I recommend that as the listening atmosphere. Listening to the show now in my cubicle under fluorescent lights isn’t quite the same experience…

We only spoil a few comics this week: SCOURGE OF GODS #1, WANTED, and FINAL CRISIS. And the Wanted movie, too.

The show breaks down like this:

1:55 - Boob talk
9:00 - Soap talk
10:25 - Munchkin recap
12:00 - Comics talk
22:00 - Dark Knight talk
24:15 - Digital Shorts
25:45 - Con talk
27:45 - Dr. Sexy terrorizing his cabinmates
29:15 - Political graffiti in the cabin
31:00 - Chicken Pot Pie!
33:30 - Food talk
34:30 - Josie’s haircut
36:00 - Josie reveals Becker’s secrets
37:30 - Chupacabra and Floating Nuns
51:00 - What scares you?
56:30 - lights off, scary stories

We're 100% less Sexy this week as Dr. Sexy attends an international conference on the sexiness. Rest assured that the US will be well represented. Dr. Sexy is, after all, the current world champion on perversion, so let's support the home team, folks! I'm not sure how most people use Facebook. For me it seems solely a tool to look up women I wish I had (or could) slept with. Or maybe slept with more, since I wasn't THAT lonely during my pathetic high school years (yeah, there were some generous girls back then to take pity on my sorry ass). Torturing HappyJack the way they did Bond in Casino Royale just wouldn't work. However it does conjure some really interesting mental images - perhaps instead of slapping something into HappyJack's balls, they'd actually have to pick his balls up and slap them into things. Yes, these are the intellectual discussions we get into without Sexy to keep us on track. Kevin Smith is closing Secret Stash West according to a recent Smodcast. It's a little discouraging - it's understandable that the economy's in the shitter, but to hear someone who dreamed of having a comic store now feel like it's more of a burden than anything is disappointing. Everyone knows by now that we don't like Diamond and hate the way they conduct business. And with the economy in the shitter, it's only getting worse. There's some hope that this will open the door for a solid competitor or alternative means of distribution, but who knows. Stevie of the CBQ mentioned to me that the Windy City Con is coming up the weekend after Pittsburgh, but I don't think our week of comic decadence is possible with our finances being what they are. Erik Larsen and Steve Wacker have been going at it over Obama. While I think each side has some valid points, I think they're both being a little unreasonable about accusing the other of things - Marvel are a bunch of fair-weather friends for "suddenly" pulling out of Colbert's ass to start kissing Obama's, but putting him on the cover is hardly some brilliant bold move that's completely unheard of pre-Larsen. Titles we spoil this week (and there are some real spoilers in there, be warned!): MYSTERIUS THE UNFATHOMABLE #1, X-FACTOR #39, SHRAPNEL PREVIEW, DR DOOM MASTERS OF EVIL #1, FACES OF EVIL DEATHSTROKE #1, DARK AVENGERS #1, THUNDERBOLTS #128, MIGHTY AVENGERS #21, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #584, 3 GEEKS SLAB MADNESS #1, UNCANNY X-MEN ANNUAL #2. Show breakdown: 3:35 - Contrasting Jason E. Becker voicemails 6:45 - Torturing HappyJack's balls wouldn't work 7:40 - Secret Stash West is closing 9:45 - Diamond changing it's order threshold, indy publishing 12:18 - Larsen vs Wacker re/ Obama 14:05 - Windy City Con 15:10 - Comics Talk Our new closing theme is the awesome "I'll Still Be a Geek After Nobody Thinks It's Chic (The Nerd Anthem)" from Marian Call's new album, Got To Fly. If you haven't picked up this album yet, you really should - it's a fantastic listen, chock full of nods to Browncoats & BSG fans & numerous geekery references!

It’s been a long time coming, but the pro-zombie forces couldn’t keep us down! In this last installment of our segment on preparing for the coming zombie invasion, Redwalker and Kwip discuss hitting the road and making the transition from your home to your haven.

Now that our “warm-up” segment is done, we’ll get started analyzing such training videos as the Living Dead series and even such questionable topics as Veggie Tales 28 Days Later.

Feel free to chime in with your own thoughts - you can drop us an email or call our voicemail at 646-797-2763!

If you’ve listened to Q!PaW, then you know how funny Jon and Matt are. Well, they’ve brought a third friend into the mix, and have expanded their coverage from comic books to whatever topic they pull out of the hat in their new podcast, The Hat Decides. Very funny stuff.

HappyJack likes spicier food than I do, and that’s saying something. But he’s also prone to eating really disgusting things (like salads), so to hear him talk about something that grosses him out can definitely put one off of lunch, to say the least. But eating odd foods might be in his genetic make-up, because apparently his daughter has caught on to eating oddities…

We met Cory (whose name I always forget because I’m an asshole) and Ziggy (who is kind enough to have a very memorable name) of Fake McCoy Comics several times as we commiserated over our lousy table locations. Granted, they usually wound up in worse spots than us, so we laughed at them, too (always good to find someone even slightly worse off than you, of course). While they struggled with their regular titles, I think they’ve got an unbelievably awesome hit on their hands with the Animated CornerKicked series. Hilarious.

I think everyone agrees that Fox are complete assholes per the ridiculous “we deserve free money” bullshit. However, I don’t think anyone has put the situation nearly as eloquently as Cracked.com’s Daniel O’Brien.

If you’re the sort of n3rd that enjoys beta versions of software, let us know your thoughts on Windows 7. I’ve heard quite a mix of things about it, but I’m always eager to hear more (good OR bad!).

HappyJack is going to be accompanying Dr. Bruce and Steve to SPACE this year, and I can’t wait to hear about it. It sounds like a good, very affordable show (which is quite a welcome change!).

Nothing says high class more than drinking your beer out of an ice-frosted glass stein. With an evil teddy bear’s face on it. Mmmm, classy! I can’t wait to get my mitts on it!

Our new closing theme is the awesome “I’ll Still Be a Geek After Nobody Thinks It’s Chic (The Nerd Anthem)” from Marian Call’s new album, Got To Fly. If you haven’t picked up this album yet, you really should - it’s a fantastic listen, chock full of nods to Browncoats & BSG fans & numerous geekery references!

Show breakdown goes like this:

This weeks show represents (another) attempt at a new sound for us. Under the guidance of Dr. Bruce, I picked up the Zoom H2 Handy Portable Stereo Recorder and we recorded this show using it. While I obviously still have some kinks to work out (getting everyone level), I’m VERY happy with the quality and ease of it. If you’re in the market for an awesome hand-held digital recorder, the Zoom comes with the official N3RD stamp of approval.

I don’t know how you get involved with e-Rewards, but if you can spare 15-20 minutes online occasionally, it’s well worth it. I’ve racked up $50 of GameStop gift certificates - not to mention a few free subscriptions to various magazines over the past year or so.

Tom Spurgeon over at CBR did a nice interview with Matt Fraction that was a good read. It was certainly enough to send us spiraling off into a lengthy discussion on comics and the industry as a whole.

We were pretty much resigned to not going to NYCC, no matter what fancy screenings they were offering. But now we’ve heard that a number of our favorite people are going to be there, it’s just rubbing salt in the wound.

The awards season has begun, and Dark Knight has already come out strong. But speaking of awesome movies, there’s news about Iron Man 2 casting decisions that could make for some interesting characters.

Wizard World seems to be in quite a lot of trouble. This isn’t really news to anybody, but it’s still annoying to think about when you look at some of the horrible decisions they’ve made and how ridiculously expensive their tables are.

Title we spoil this week include: DETECTIVE COMICS #852, FACES OF EVIL GRUNDY #1, SECRET SIX #5, SGT ROCK THE LOST BATTALION #3, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #582, INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #9, MARVEL ZOMBIES 3 #4, PUNISHER #1, SPIDER-MAN FEAR ITSELF #1, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #21, X-MEN NOIR #2, BOYS #26, NO HERO #3.

Again, the only breakdown I think folks might care about is where we start talking about comics. That’s at 52:15 if you want to miss out on all our brilliant observations and wit.

I’ve often discussed on the show how surprised I am that there aren’t crazies out there trying to be the next Batman. Well, I need ponder no more! Although the NY Times has a brief article about these “real” heroes, Rolling Stones has a very in-depth and pretty interesting read about one hero in particular. It’s disturbing, amusing and just a bizarre read to see how some people delude themselves. And that’s coming from a guy who believes he can lose weight whilst eating Ben & Jerrys.

Pittsburgh Comic Con has been delayed until September of 2009 (and one of these days they might even get around to updating their site). I think there’s a lot of split opinions on the whole move - some of the folks were upset that they didn’t find out before now, some folks are upset at the new date, and some folks are just upset at change, period. This will be hard for HappyJack, since Leadslinger Studios was going to premiere a number of their new titles in Pittsburgh,

Dr. Sexy has finally designed and ordered the official Dr. Sexy Muppet. I’m of course very jealous because I can barely afford to make a Kwip sock puppet, but I’m sure Dr. Sexy will get many miles of usage out of that Muppet!

Congrats to Dr. Bruce finally hit his 100th KomicsKast recently. We were hoping for a downward spiral of drunken debauchery, but I guess we’re the only ones that get up to that sort of chaos during our shows.

Paul Adams joins us on this show. Among his other distinctions, he is also the new drummer for Sobriety Starts Tomorrow, a Panama City punk band. If you’re into the punk scene, you should check these guys out - tell them the N3RDs sent ya!

Titles we spoil this week (and we really do have some spoilers in there, watch out!): SECRET SIX, WHAT IF SECRET WAR, JSA #22, AVENGERS INITIATIVE #20, WOLVERING #70, CAPTAIN AMERICA #45, KICK ASS #5, GOON #31, BATMAN CACOPHANY #2, BATMAN #684, PUNISHER WAR ZONE #4, VENOM: DARK ORIGINS #5, DAREDEVIL #114, TEEN TITANS #66, ATOMIC ROBOT #5.

To listen to the show, RIGHT-CLICK HERE AND CHOOSE “SAVE AS…”

I didn’t bother with the music interludes on this show. I’m still not sure how I feel about them - I like using music to break up the show, but it’s kind of hard to break our show up since we bounce around topics so much. I’d ask HappyJack and Dr. Sexy what they think, but they never listen to the shows, so why bother? Regardless, this show I only use a clip from Paul’s band at the end of the show, so enjoy!

Also, there’s not much point in doing notes for this show, since we don’t talk about much else other than the comics, but if you want to skip over our blathering and get right to the comics talk, that starts around 18:30.

We start the show with a very, very lovely voice mail from Gail Simone (the REAL Gail, not Becker in a bad falsetto). Apart from being incredibly talented, Gail is also a real sweetheart and one of the most thoughtful folks in the biz.

Speaking of sweet creators, apart from being a great writer, Kelly Sue is also an incredible chef. Or at least, presenter - having never actually tasted any of her food, I can only comment on the appearance of deliciousness of her bûche de noël with meringue mushrooms (and Godzilla).

We feasted on quite the cookie banquet courtesy of Mrs. HappyJack during this show, so brace yourself for much smacking of lips.

We discuss some of our delightful Christmas presents. Am I the only person that got cash for Xmas and immediately turned around to spend that cash on buying presents for other people? Yeah, I’m not a smart man.

Dr. Bruce is closing in on episode 100 (it might already be done so far as I know as of this writing!).

The Pittsburgh Comic Con is one of our favorite cons, so we’re going a little crazy trying to figure out what’s going on with it since we’ve heard conflicting reports of it being postponed.

I bitch about it because I hate going to concerts, but Jared Reynolds is one hell of a nice guy. He’s the bassist for Ben Folds, and we’ve talked to him (and Sam Smith, the drummer) on a couple occasions at great length - usually about the joys of the Wii. He’s amazingly down-to-earth and just a very cool, very sincere guy. So if you’re at a Ben Folds concert, tell him I said hi…

My friend sent me the most disturbing text message that had me all aflutter. Don’t you hate it when that happens? Anyone have any particularly disturbing messages they wish to share with the class?

Titles we spoil this week: GREATEST AMERICAN HERO #1, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #581, ULTIMATUM #2, THOR GOD SIZED #1, THUNDERBOLTS #127, DEADPOOL #5, SPIDER-MAN NOIR #1, BILLY BATSON AND THE MAGIC OF SHAZAM #3, WIZARD OF OZ, THOR #12, INVINCIBLE #57, ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN #11, SECRET INVASION REQUIEM #1, MIGHTY AVENGERS #20, NEW AVENGERS #48, INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #8, JIM BUTCHERS DRESDEN FILES STORM FRONT, X-FACTOR #38

You’ll have to forgive this recording - apparently while we were recording, HappyJack’s daughters were playing “Stomp Stomp Revolution.”

Oh, and go read Mumblepuss already.

Show breakdown goes like this:

10:40 - Pittsburgh Comic Con delayed?, Con talk in general
15:40 - The Spirit
17:00 - Hero Envy antics, Ben Folds revenge
19:30 - Effin’ Zac rebuttals us, funny text messages, Xmas presents
32:15 - Comic talk

Music used in this show:
Hello, It’s Late - Stone Temple Pilots
Dumb - Nirvana
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Bare Naked Ladies ft. Sarah McLachlan
Bitch Went Nuts - Ben Folds
Help - Beatles

If you have a Mac and don’t have Delicious Library, I honestly don’t know what you use that thing for. A paperweight? Maybe you’re just someone that doesn’t LIKE to easily build an inventory of all their books, games, music and movies. Weirdo.

We’ve talked about it before, but it’s always such a hassle when you’re trying to figure out how to insure your comics - and then to get rid of comics you don’t want any more in a reasonable manner. Because throwing away comic books - even Image - is tantamount to eating babies.

Dr. Sexy’s birthday bash was quite the enjoyable night. It was made even more so by Effing Zac’s not-so-subtle attempts to let us know that he is gay and desperately wants to come out to us. We would accept him - even welcome having another gay N3RD at hand to provide us with fashion advice. Unfortunately, Effing Zac chooses to live in the state of Denial. Poor Effing Zac. He’ll never know true love at this pace!

Our part of the world is referred to by some as “PA Dutchy” - that’s Pennsylvanian Dutch country in long-hand. While it is an area that is prone to exotic foods such as deep-fried oreoes, it also gives us such wonderful delights as chicken and waffles. YUM!

Spewgilist is the wicked, evil man who got us hooked on potato vodka. Our livers have sent him thank-you cards.

Do you Woot? You really should. Dr. Sexy and I have gotten some spiffy toys on the cheap from them lately. Their Twitter feed makes it really handy to see the daily specials, too.

Is anyone at ALL interested in seeing Sin City 1.5 Spirit?

So Batman finally ended. Lamely, according to Dr. Sexy. And from what he says, it sounds like a pretty miserable telling all around.

We’ve all come to accept that comic prices are going to rise - and that’s likely not to end any particular time, so don’t get comfy at $3.99, either.

I’ve been waiting to see someone pull Molecule Man out of storage. I thought for sure he was going to be the big gun ending for Civil War, and when that didn’t pan out, I expected him to show up for Secret Invasion. However, it seems he’s still busy picking his nose somewhere…

Punisher: War Zone got a good review from Dr. Sexy and some of our friends - provided you’re not interested in good dialogue, plot or acting. Things do blow up, though.

I tend to strongly hate any sort of reality TV, so I’m loathe to even consider Estate of Panic in that genre, but it really is a fun show. The room obstacles are very entertaining, and I enjoy seeing the creative ways they’re set up every new episode.

Speaking of TV, Dexter came to a wrap, and HappyJack insists this is a show we all need to watch. Anyone want to buy it for me on DVD? It IS the season of giving, you know…

And there’s a couple other shows we discussed - the United States of Tara, BBC’s version of Neverwhere and Dr. Who.

While we usually stick to sci-fi and/or fantasy books, Artie Lange’s book has us all interested. Mostly out of pity for that soon-to-be-dead bastard.

If you’re the sort that does the facebooking, stop by our group and join in the… whatever it is we do there?

Did you know there’s another nerdcast? Only they spell it correctly. Three episodes in, and they’re doubtless WAY more famous than us.

Titles we spoil this week: X-MEN AND SPIDER-MAN, SECRET INVASION 8, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #581, SPIDER-MAN NOIR #1, AVENGERS INITIATIVE #19, WIZARD OF OZ #1, X-MEN NOIR #1, HOW TO BE A SERIAL KILLER, BODY BAGS, THE TITANS, PUNISHER WAR ZONE #1.

Show Bookmarks:

21:30 - Dr. Sexy has a new toy

In this episode, Redwalker and I take up the topic of our safe havens. A safe haven is the location you plan on staying for the long haul of the apocalypse. This should be a location you can keep supplied, manned and safe for at least 2-3 years.

Obviously, you really should start stocking it with supplies and preparing as soon as possible, because it’s going to take some time to get it up to specs!

Red and I have some disagreement here - Red prefers the arid desert, but I prefer local mountains. Red prefers fewer folks around, but I believe in strength in numbers. Listen to our points and then feel free to chime in with your own thoughts - you can drop us an email or call our voicemail at 646-797-2763!

Oh - and Happy Halloween, everyone! Be sure to tune in tonight to our LIVE HaLOLw33n show, right here at NeenerNeener.Net, starting at 9pm EST!

We start out being distracted by fond memories of those giant JC Penny’s magazines that used to come right about now and start the Xmas madness for us as kids. Not to mention the underwear section when we were a little older…

I’m foolish to want a BluRay player when I don’t even have an HDTV, but I’m forward-thinking, obviously. I figure now that I have a 360, it’s only a matter of time before I get a PS3. And then an HDTV will fall into my lap somewhere along the line!

Webcomics.com is the new site by the guys from Half-Pixel. We fully support 3/4 of that crew.

Yeah, my love for Matt Fraction is wildly inappropriate. Don't tell Kelly Sue.

Wizard of Oz was fantastic, but tonight (Monday the 27th), we’ll be heading to Penn Cinema to see Ghostbusters, and you’re all welcome to join us. We loves us some Penn Cinema!

HappyJack (& his crew) have been busting their asses over at Leadslinger Studios, and they’ve got a ton of new projects coming out. 2009 is going to be the year of Leadslinger!

I want to contribute a few stories to Leadslinger, but I’m really haunted by the failure to really gain traction in the mainstream of folks like Jason Becker, DJ Coffman, Jeff McComsey, Jorge Vega and so many other creators we’ve gotten to know. These are folks that put out fantastic work but never really seem to get the accolades they deserve. While they’re certainly not toiling away in obscurity, they’re not the Names that people look for they way they do for Fraction, Slott, Ellis, etc. It’s disheartening to see people whose work I really admire and who I could only hope to be nearly as good as do poorly - it makes you wonder what chance at all you would stand getting into the fray. Or at least it makes ME wonder about MY chances.

And speaking of Becker - if you didn’t already know, there’s a masked vigilante running around his town. So if you were thinking about committing crimes there, be warned.

It’s true - we do now have a bang bus. The thing’s MASSIVE, befitting the status of a vehicle tasked with hauling our asses around. But it’s got a power lift and plenty of room for Kwipette to get her shiny new power wheelchair in without any problems, so we’re definitely giving it a thumbs-up, even if it does consume more gas than a race car. We have dubbed it the “Leviathan” (or Levi for short).

Finally, don’t forget - this Friday, the 31st, is our HaLOLw33n party broadcast! Join the N3RDs & friends as we discuss the scariest movies, comics, books & stories that we’ve come across. Mike from ReelSplatter films will be joining us, and we might hear from a couple special guests. It will be broadcast right here LIVE via our Stickam channel, so you can join in the chat room. We start at 9pm and run till midnight, when we’ll be summoning the dread lord Cthulhu!

Titles we spoil this week include: DC UNIVERSE HALLOWEEN 08, FINAL CRISIS #4, INVINCIBLE #54, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #574, CAPTAIN AMERICA #43, DAREDEVIL #112, NEW AVENGERS #46, NEW WARRIORS #17, SECRET INVASION #7, SECRET INVASION AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #3, THUNDERBOLTS #125, and X-FACTOR #36.

Music included today:

Bare Naked Ladies - “Celebrity”
ElectroLord - “Over the Rainbow Techno Remix
Bobby ‘Boris’ Picket - “Monster Mash”

DJ Coffman served up Kurtz a big bowl of bitch slap, and we painfully discuss it. Painful, because I really did like Kurtz, but he’s just been acting like SUCH an asshat that it’s impossible for me to either like him or approve of how he’s been behaving. It’s one thing to be ridiculous for the sake of being funny, but this arrogance - I just don’t know where the sense of entitlement comes from. But the tshirt is pretty damn awesome.

Leadslinger Studios finally updated their site. Still no naked pics yet, but we’ll keep on them.

We do abuse Zac to no end, but it’s hilarious.

Dr. Sexy found this great article about Dan Slott. I would have read it, but Dan and I spend all night talking on the phone (what with being BFF), so I figured I know everything he had to say.

Titles we spoil this week: FABLES #77, FLASH #245, JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #19, SPIRIT #22, SUPER FRIENDS #8, TITANS #6, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #573, ASTONISHING X-MEN #27, DEADPOOL #2, MIGHTY AVENGERS #19, MOON KNIGHT #23, UNCANNY X-MEN #503, GHOSTBUSTERS THE OTHER SIDE #1, GRANT MORRISONS DOCTOR WHO #1, PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL BARACK OBAMA, PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL JOHN MCCAIN, GEORGE R R MARTINS WILD CARDS #4 HARD CALL, MARVEL ZOMBIES 3 #1, DEADPOOL #3, WALKING DEAD #53, DEADWORLD #1 SLAUGHTERHOUSE.

Also, I offer oral to Matt Fraction, because his X-Men is THAT GOOD. Seriously. (Which is different from when I normally offer it to him just cuz he’s such a cutie.) If you were a fan of the Chris Claremont X-Men days, you really need to be reading this book (Scott, I’m looking RIGHT at you!).

We’re only hinting at it now, but make sure you clear your calendars for Halloween night. We’ll start our live broadcast at 9pm, and it will be an all-horror show (and by that I mean, at some point, we’ll show our asses on the webcam). We’ve got a bunch of folks coming for the show, and it’s gonna be a real hoot. Seriously. HOOT.

Trevor, Dr. Sexy and I sit down to discuss some of our questions about Warhammer. Listening to the questions I have, you’ll surmise that I have never actually played Warhammer, but honest, I have a couple characters I can display as proof. Granted, none of them has made it past (or to, at this point) level 10, so obviously I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.

I was puzzled as to why Magii seem to get targetted so often, but Trevor and Sexy clarified it for me: because I’m an easy kill. That actually makes me feel better - I’m getting killed just because I’m an easy target, not because there’s something effective I should be doing but have no idea how to do.

I really love Public Quests and think that they are completely brilliant, but damn, some of those bastiches are hard. But that’s good - it makes them a lot more challenging. I just wish they could scale so that they were HARD but not IMPOSSIBLE when I’m the only one there.

Speaking of Public Quests, Dr. Sexy brought up a good point about the loot bags. I didn’t even know they were randomly assigned - I thought each scenario always produced the same ones, but Trevor sets us straight.

None of us know how to leave scenarios, however. Is it even possible?

And speaking of scenarios, has anyone heard that there are bannable exploits in them? Or at least, ones as lame as banning people that climb on the barracks in Nordenwatch? If that’s a bannable offense, that’s the stupidest thing I’ve heard - you can still hit people on those barracks, and if you don’t want people to be able to get on them, MAKE THEM IMPOSSIBLE TO GET ON. Is it really that hard? Are they banning people that climb on the walls in the fortress? Dumb.

Dr. Sexy has a collection of talismans, but apparently isn’t able to use any of them. I haven’t even seen one of them yet, so I certainly aren’t any help, but Trevor again stepped up with the answers.

If you haven’t heard about it yet, check out Raptr.com. I know at least Dr. Sexy, Tathas, Bini and I are all on it, so if you’re there, give us a /friend.

The gang got back from The Field of Screams, so everyone piled on the Kwiplings bed to join in the hilarity of taping a N3RDCast. So that means there’s about five conversations at once going on, but lots of good laughs as we discuss Renn Faire plans, Dr. Sexy getting moist, drugged out 15-year olds and men climbing into Kwipette’s uterus. Fascinating stuff, really. I’ll never go with Kwipette to the female parts doctor again. Which spawns more obgyn stories. Josie gets pretty shrill, so be warned. It’s pure horror, so it’s appropriate warm-up for the Halloween story.

We all have the sniffles, too. That makes for good radio.

We also briefly touch on DJ Coffman and his new best friend, Luigi. What a strange, strange tale.

Geek Savants have been doing a really cool series on their favorite Halloween monsters, so check that out.

KomicsKast finally got off their duff and did a new BoP. About time! Honestly, Bruce…

Dan Slott’s taking over the Mighty Avengers, so we’re pretty excited about that. What with me being Dan’s BFF, of course.

Dr. Sexy brought to our attention one of the worst navigations ever.

Matt Fraction is awesome as everyone already knows, but this is a great article.

Oh! Bonus points for me bringing the show to a screeching halt by using the dreaded “C” word on Kwipette. You can actually hear Caitlin turning bright red right in the recording, it’s awesome! Apparently nobody found it as hilarious as Kwipette and I did. But we’re weird like that, what can I say.

If you haven’t watched the Max Payne trailer, you might want to check it out, I really love the looks of it. Which means it’s probably gonna be horrible.

Goon on soda pop bottles is pretty damn cool.

We wind up with a VERY brief recap of our trip to Faire. The Sexretary scored us tons of free Renn Faire tickets, so she won’t get called nasty names.

We interrupt our regular time-flow of the progression of the apocalypse here to address a worst-case scenario: the zombies have spotted you and broken into your house. What can you do to hold them off? Are you automatically doomed? Are there any ways out of a zombie-crowded house?

SHOULD YOU HIDE IN THE BASEMENT?

Redwalker and I lend our formidable wisdom towards this scenario and give you advice on your last hope for survival when your home is being overrun. For starters, you better live in a two-story house!

After a long period of seclusion, we finally come together to face the shame and embarrassment that resulted from our behaviors at the 2008 Baltimore Comic Con. Well, not so much “our” behaviors as MY behaviors. I got EMBARRASINGLY drunk in Baltimore. Truly shameful. Even worse, I videotaped some of it to ensure I’ll always remember what an idiot I can be.

I can’t say enough good things about the folks we were hanging with. The gang from PLB Comics are ALWAYS great to hang out with, and really made for lovely dinner company (after we chased poor Dave Kellet and his friend). They also displayed MUCH more common sense, because THEY returned to their hotel room and had a nice, restful evening.

Jorge Vega, Dominic Vivona, Jeff McComsey and L. Jámal Walton - along with the guys from Digital Pimp - were our unfortunate subjects later that night. I can only hope they had a good time and we (well, I) wasn’t as horribly obnoxious as I’m afraid I was. Well, at least Dr. Sexy was mostly sober, and HappyJack was actually talking business with them. My role was to laugh uproariously and headbutt the wall. Important job, that one.

Dr. Sexy also finally managed to get through Dave Dwonch’s Special Education, which he picked up at the CGS Super Show. Dave’s part of the Geek Savant crew, so read his book AND give them a listen - I promise if you like us, you’ll like them.

I was pimping CBQ and Q!PaW for the Podcast Awards, but nominations are over, so never mind. Whoops. I’m such a good friend!

In an unusual turn of events, Woody, Dr. Sexy, Trevor and I are actually back at playing a MOG - AND, even crazier, we’re actually all playing the same game. To celebrate this unusual occurrence, we sat down to talk about our initial experiences with Warhammer now that it has launched.

We recorded this as our families were cooking out, so there’s a lot of background noise (I don’t know why we can’t get our women and children just to sit quietly while we talk about this important stuff!). But it’s been a while since we talked MOG, so it was good to get back to this. Woody has a lot to say about his experiences trying to get A) a good mouse, and B) a good mouse that will let him macro. As a result of this conversation (and Woody’s wonderful help), I now have a lovely Microsoft Sidewinder Mouse (and I love it very much). Feel free to chime in with any suggestions of your own about a mouse you like.

We also discuss Grudge (which I didn’t understand), taking on healers at lower levels, and drinking buddies. There’s a LOT about Warhammer we’re all still learning. If you’ve got any clues, feel free to offer any suggestions or chime in with questions of your own!

HappyJack is out of commission this weekend for family duties. Considering the depravity we’re going to subject him to (or was it he, us? Whatever.) I think this is a fair trade. Let his family have him this weekend! Next weekend? HE BELONGS TO US (also, any slutty women [?] we find) IN BALTIMORE! If you haven’t made plans yet, you’ll find us at the Lead Slinger Studio booth (and as soon as they let us know where that is, we’ll post it here!). Stop by and say hi!

If you haven’t been paying attention, you really need to check out Greengo. He’s a chupacabra, and possibly the only source of information you need on the interweb to tell you what’s worth your time. And I didn’t realize it, but apparently he’s posting damn near every day. So there you go!

Iron Man comes out this week, but Dark Knight’s STILL in theaters. Good grief. I’m excited about Iron Man, but I’m going to be studying Dark Knight the way a zoologist studies… erm… zoos?

Honestly Alan, if you’re going to be a whiny cunt, couldn’t you at least wait till the actual movie comes out? That might lend the slightest air of legitimacy to your mewing. But probably not.

Titles we spoil this week include: CONAN THE CIMMERIAN #3, ACTION COMICS #869, SPIRIT #21, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #572, MIGHTY AVENGERS #18, MOON KNIGHT #22, SECRET INVASION THOR #2, UNCANNY X-MEN #502.

Redwalker and Kwip set out on the road - or at least, talk about how to plan for road (or off-road) trips. There’s a lot of things to think about apart from whether you’ve got a full tank of gas (which we don’t even mention, thank you very much!).

We talk about GPS, land navigation skills, planning alternate routes, and some handy things to have in the vehicle at all times. Items that aren’t just useful during a zombie apocalypse, even! Weird, right?

For a show that’s supposed to be the merest of overviews, we sure do get sidetracked a lot. I can’t help it - I blame it on the wealth of information on the internet! We do try and stick to our 15-minute cap, even if we aren’t always successful.

When you’re at work and the zombie apocalypse hits, you’ll be happy you listened to this episode!

We start out the show with HappyJack and Dr. Sexy recapping their Super Show experiences. Two different views, you’ll notice. But both of them will be back next year, and barring any more Ben Folds incidents, I’ll be there to join them.

We also have some voice mails to… subject ourselves to… from the (un)usual suspects. Always the highlight of the show.

Titles we spoil this week: SECRET SIX #1, GOON #28, SECRET SIX #1, BATMAN CONFIDENTIAL #21, SECRET SIX #1, BOOSTER GOLD #12, SECRET SIX #1, WONDER WOMAN #24, INVINCIBLE #52, SECRET SIX #1, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #571, SECRET SIX #1, DEADPOOL #1, SECRET SIX #1, SECRET INVASION #6, SECRET SIX #1, SECRET SIX #1, SECRET SIX #1 and SECRET SIX #1.

Gail, I don’t want to spoil anything for you, but Dr. Sexy finally got around to reading Secret Six #1!

We also discuss the prospect of another live N3RDCast show (ie, a drunk show). We were kicking around the 3rd of October, but I think I’m going to ignore their ideas completely and instead stick with the 4th. Executive override! It’s easier to prepare for on a Saturday - no way can I get home from work and get ready in time to do it justice on a Friday night, particularly the week after Baltimore. My liver will still be in recovery, anyway. So there.

Today Kwip and Redwalker discuss some of their favorite picks for anti-zombie weaponry, including: The M14, M1 Garand and Ruger 10/22 rifles, the Colt 357 Python revolver, the 1911 .45 caliber pistol, and the Mossberg 590 and Benelli M4 Super 90 shotguns.

Let’s face it: it’s all well and good to talk about enchanted table legs, but the REAL fun in the zombie apocalypse discussions is talking about the guns you want at hand! And hey, if you’re TALKING about guns, why not take the time to actually purchase one? And if you DO purchase one, by all means, familiarize yourself with it! Never mind the zombie hordes, this could save you a lot of grief in your life in general. Take some time, get to the range a few times, have some fun. It’s like Counter-Strike, only with better sound quality!

We got together the night before the guys left for the CGS Super Show and I left to stand in the middle of a hurricane waiting to see Ben Folds with the Chamber Orchestra of Philly at the Mann Center.

I’ve heard the boys had fun.

As for Ben, it was an incredible show, easily the most enjoyable concert I’ve ever been to in my life on every single level, and I would have traded the experience in a second to be at the Super Show… But I think everyone wound up having a good weekend, and I’m sure the guys will have plenty of stories to tell next week.

As for THIS week, we start out talking wildly inappropriately about the beautiful Comfort Love. Because, you know, she was at the Super Show.

And I wasn’t.

Sigh. I just hope the guys properly fawned over her… And her book, of course.

Uh, I guess her husband might have helped on that book, too. Just a little.

On the news front, folks are talking about the Pittsburgh show’s new location. I guess it’s good news, but I’m kind of bummed that it will no longer be the incredibly convenient show it was last year. Not just because I’m lazy (although that, too) - I picked that as the perfect show to bring Kwipette along to, since it’s all in one very handicapped-accessible location. Still, I’m looking forward to it in 2009, because they’re still the best folks we’ve ever worked with at any show.

We were going to ask DJ Coffman for some insight into the new location since he’s local to there, but he continues to get bombarded with Will Draw Anything orders. That’ll teach him to be talented. Also, cheap.

Right in the middle of this show, the batteries in the hand-held recorder died. It’s a testimony to

Oh, and if you missed Tyr’s comment last week on the hilarious thread he started on Gail’s forums, you really need to check it out. Funny stuff.

Titles we spoil this week: MARVEL APES #1, BATMAN DETECTIVE COMICS #848, THE BOYS #22, UNCANNY X-MEN #501, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #570, VENOM DARK ORIGIN #2, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #18, TITANS #4, INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #5, DEAD OF NIGHT #1, FRINGE #1.

Redwalker and Kwip discuss weapons you might find at hand when the zombie apocalypse comes - from table legs to butcher knives to broomsticks: look around you. What can you use as a weapon?

No fair if you’re sitting in the middle of an armory. The goal here is to be creative! What ordinary device can be transformed into a Zed killing machine with the application of ingenuity, elbow grease, and - of course - duct tape?

One of the interesting items we stumbled across was the Unbreakable Umbrella. Handy striking weapon that you can carry with you and draw MUCH less attention than a crowbar!

We’re still REALLY struggling to improve the sound quality. And not making much progress, as you’ll hear in this show… It’s frustrating, but rest assured we’re still working hard at it. I figure somewhere around episode 100, maybe 200, we’ll get it ironed out and at least be able to sound like we’re on a paper cup and string connection. Which would be a HUGE improvement.

Feel free to chime in with your observations/ideas about the tools/weapons you have on hand and how you can use them by calling us at 646-797-2763 or emailing us. You can also stop by the forums and get involved!

The crew is back together this week after a brief hiatus. Dr. Sexy brought us back whore private dancer personals from Las Vegas, so we start out the show giving our favorite picks. Feel free to call them and let them know you heard about them through the N3RDCast!

Dr. Sexy did not win the big payoff in Vegas, sad to say. But he did manage to come back with some funny stories which he graciously shares with everyone.

One of the topics we discuss is our thoughts about MJ (again). With the Secret Invasion storyline going on (and apparently having been in the works for some time), why couldn’t they have done MJ as a Skrull?

Titles we spoil this week: JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #18, SUPERNATURAL RISING SON #5 (OF 6), TEEN TITANS #62, TEEN TITANS YEAR ONE #6 (OF 6), AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #569 NWD, AVENGERS INITIATIVE #16 SI, DAREDEVIL #110, KICK ASS #4 (MR), MIGHTY AVENGERS #17 SI, NEW AVENGERS #44 SI, SECRET INVASION AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1 (OF 3) SI, THUNDERBOLTS #123 SI, WOLVERINE #68.

Doing Shawn of the Living was fun, but it wasn’t quite scratching that itch. I like talking about the Zombie Apocalypse more when I’ve got another person to kick ideas around with, so I asked Redwalker to join me. To mark the addition, we’re re-branding and re-launching the Zombie N3RDCasts under a new name, Dawn of the N3RDs!

Our plan is to go through preparations and discussions in a linear timeline, progressing along the hypothetical stages of a zombie breakout. To that end, we start with our first episode discussing your pre-apocalypse preparations: stockpiling long-storing foods, provisions and medical supplies.

HappyJack and Dr. Sexy are on the road (separately, of course). I gave serious thought to just droning on for an hour about all the comic book wisdom I know, but considering that my wisdom can be summed up with the phrase, “Check to make sure the pages of your book aren’t bent when you buy it,” I don’t think that would make for an hour-long show.

But fear not, gentle readers! To make up for the lack of HJ & Sexy, I invited THE Jason Earl Becker and the Godfather of Comics Podcasting, Bruce Rosenberger, to join me! We discuss the (now infamous) Robert Kirkman video, our comic reads of the week, and various and other sundry topics that float into our collective brain.

It’s my first time trying to use Talkshoe, also. It wasn’t horrible, and I think the sound quality was a lot better than I had expected - certainly better than what I’m used to with past Skype headaches.

Oh, and Becker spoils the hell out of the upcoming Watchmen movie. Be warned.

In this episode I discuss the moral dilemmas facing you in the zombie world when the people you love are turned. What will you do if you find your child turned? What about your co-workers? How are you going to handle it if your wife gets turned? More importantly, what about that gorgeous young college student down the street that always goes jogging past your house wearing little more than a sports bra… What? That’s an important factor to consider!

We watched this video by Kirkman right before we started recording the show, so it was the first topic that came up and you’ll hear we each had a different perspective on what Kirkman said. And we had just read this article about the business of comic stores, so it really tied in and gave us a lot to talk about.

Titles we spoil this week include: GOON #27, ACTION COMICS #868, BATMAN #679 RIP, BATMAN STRIKES #48, BOOSTER GOLD #11, TINY TITANS #7, WONDER WOMAN #23, WALKING DEAD #51, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #567, MARVEL ADVENTURES SPIDER-MAN #42, PUNISHER #60, SECRET INVASION #5, SECRET INVASION THOR #1, ATOMIC ROBO DOGS OF WAR #1, and THE BOND OF SAINT MARCEL #1.

I also recap the excellent visit I had with Keith and Mike (and family!) of Hero Envy. I love those guys, and I can’t wait till we all get together again - right now, it’s looking like that won’t be for some time, but we definitely have to try!

The show breaks down like this:

00:30 - we start out with discussion of Kirkman’s video
26:25 - breaking down this week’s books
1:03:15 - Kwip’s visit with Keith & Mike of Hero Envy

In Episode 1, I talk about some of the basics: recognizing when you’re on the cusp of the zombie apocalypse (here’s a clue - THERE’S ZOMBIES AROUND YOU!) and what your first steps should be.

Thanks to Redwalker, I think I have a new theme song (I was originally planning on rotating, but this song’s too damn perfect - but I might still slip back to Marian occasionally). John wrote in to ask how I did my research. The answer, of course, is Google. But there are a few other resources you should make note of:

One of my favorite handbooks is the Zombie Survival Guide. Although some of the things I disagree with, it’s a great book and very informative. And if you like that, you should check out Max Brook’s other zombie book, World War Z.

A couple of websites you can’t be without: first, Lost Zombies is a good site full of lots of entertaining information. But for solid, serious discussions, check out Zombie Squad. Those froods are scholars of the coming apocalypse and their forums are chock full of great info!

We start out discussing some of our favorites from this week’s comics: JIM BUTCHERS DRESDEN FILES #4, PILOT SEASON THE CORE #1, THOR: AGES OF THUNDER (not new this week, but it’s REALLY good), JOKERS ASYLUM TWO FACE #1, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN EXTRA, WOLVERINE #67, and a short mention of the Looking for Group webcomic, done by the same creative team that bring us Least I Could Do.

30:05 - Eisner discussions, where I do a wonderful time warp and wonder why a comic from 2004 didn’t win. And a little love for our friend M. Sean McMannis, who we had a WONDERFUL interview with - and then promptly lost thanks to my incompetence.

37:00 - JK Rowling coming out with a new book, and discussing some preparations and advice on the upcoming Baltimore Comic Con, PLB Comics got totally hosed by customs, and more on how Kaigon needs to stop wasting time designing sites for losers and get back to doing Chipmunk Bay.

44:30 - UGLY MUGGS! Honestly, if you’re going to pay $2,500 for these, would you let us know? We want to kick your ass for perpetuating that sort of stupidity.

This is a preview of a new series of micro-podcasts I'm starting, titled "Shawn of the Living." They'll still be part of the N3RDCasts, so no need to update your feed (because I KNOW you don't want to miss out on this brilliance!).

This sprang from the conversations many of us around here engage in on a regular basis: what to do when the zombies arrive. It's an important topic, and one near and dear to my heart. Because I have nothing better to do with my life, this is a subject I'm constantly considering. And now you have the benefit of my years of wisdom and careful research into the subject! Aren't I a generous guy?

This is just a teaser, and a short one at that - but even the regular shows won't be much longer. This isn't a show I'm going to spend a lot of time producing, it'll just be a weekly soapbox I climb up on for a few minutes every week before it collapses under my girth. If you want to participate, you can send your suggestions, questions and opinions to zombies@neenerneener.net for future discussion.

This week I'm using "We're Out for Blood" by the lovely Marian Call. It's a song she did for an upcoming indy zombie movie, so I thought it appropriate. But if you want a real treat, check out the acoustic version of that song she did (about half-way down the page in the right column). And if you like THAT, you should check out the entire show that you can listen to for FREE!

We start out with some Dark Knight spoilers. Well, not just Dark Knight, but comparing it to many of the other comic movies, extensive talk about the new Punisher movie, and - because this is STILL the N3RDCast, after all - we get into sodomy of 300. Then there’s also some discussion about the Superman movies, the Spider-Man TV show(s), and various other distractions on video. That’s just for the first half-hour or so.

At about the 35:00 mark, we begin discussing the comic that has hooked me back into comics in a big way: Uncanny X-Men #500, with Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction (hallowed be their names) writing a story that absolutely smashed it out of the park.

Finally, at about the 47:00 mark, we wind up with the news that Kirkman has been made a partner at Image Comics, news that’s wildly exciting to us. Hopefully this means great things for both Kirkman and Image - the two together have the potential to make beautiful (music) comics together!

The show got off to what was probably the funniest and most awesomest start EVER - but don’t worry, I forgot to record it, so you’ll never know just what you missed. Since I didn’t record the introductions, the show starts with Bini and Bruce joining me in the studio whilst Dr. Sexy and HappyJack are off making sacrifices to Cthulhu at different shores.

We all shared some favorite 4th of July stories to start off the show (mostly involving exploding friends/family), and it just goes to show: nothing says independence like the freedom to completely blow the hell out of yourself (and objects near you).

We slowed things down a bit to talk about Michael Turner. It was such a shame that he died, but particularly because of how young he was.

None of us follow Battle Pope, but I guess it’s good news that it got syndicated to an animated series. I just don’t know that Spike is good for… well, ANYthing, but in particular doing something like this.

I don’t understand the significance of Larsen stepping down as the publisher of Image, so forgive me, but Sexy thought it was important to mention.

I always enjoy Gail appearing at ANYthing, but this was a great panel for her to be on.

With all the controversy surrounding Platinum Studios, it surprised me to learn that they’re talking about buying Wowio. I’m not sure if that dispels the rumors of financial troubles or just points to crazy spending - shaking confidence them even more.

Penn Cinema is a local privately-owned theater that we really love. It’s got stadium seating, digital projection AND really powerful AC (these are a few of my favorite things!).

I’ve got to get a better way of watching the projects from our friends at Riff Raff Theater - trying to watch it on the computer just doesn’t work, and I just want to watch it on the big TV.

I don’t like Rose McGowen. Simple as that. And Red Sonja was so ridiculous the first time, do we really need it remade with that bimbo in the lead role?

I was never a huge Origami fan, but the work Brian has done is INCREDIBLE. His Iron Man alone is worth checking out!

I thought Bini was crazy over-reacting to the Diablo 3 announcement - but then Josie violently masturbated to the news of Chrono Trigger for the DS. Makes you wish you were in the chat room, doesn’t it?

My cousin and his lovely wife filmed what looks like an incredible documentary about puppeteers called Puppet Rampage - I have to get that, it just looks too entertaining.

We were drinking quite a bit for this show, and then Dr. Sexy logged in the chatroom and he was ALSO drunk - it was an odd meeting of the minds. Our shared blood alcohol level let us bond telepathically. But Dr. Sexy says we need to plug NeedCoffee.com. Done!

One of the (many) wonderful side-effects of me being drunk is that I bounce from subject to subject at about 1,000 miles an hour, so let me just through out some links that I have no idea how they came up: Chipmunk Bay is the comic that Kaigon SHOULD be doing when he’s wasting his time revamping N3; XKCD.com is a brilliant comic, and Chris Sanders is a brilliant artist.

We discussed ONLY two comics this show: BILLY BATSON AND THE MAGIC OF SHAZAM #1 and ZOMBIE TALES #2. So that’s that!

We start out the show with a bit of a tribute to George Carlin. Well, I say “we,” but I actually stayed away for most of the show. You can tell, because it sounds good and is really funny.

HappyJack’s always a fussy bitch, so when he takes the time to look up a web address for a comic, that’s a pretty good indicator the book is one you’ll want to check out. In this case, it’s A Dummie’s Guide to Danger, and it’s quite a b

We always talk about how much we love the viral marketing surrounding movies, and the new Batman movie has been a stellar example. Their latest foray is the Thomas and Martha Wayne Foundation, where you can learn about the Wayne family history.

Scott Kurtz lives to stir up shit. Also, whine.

The guys love Wowio, and it’s fanbase is pretty wide, including other friends of N3 like the guys at Dutchy Digest. But nobody really understands why it just shut down with no notice. They say they’re “going global,” but I’m not really sure what that means.

This X-Men panel was an interesting read. Fraction on the X-Men alone is enough to get me buying that, but reading that whole panel coverage really has me stoked for what’s coming. Of course I was stoked for Countdown for Infinite Crisis because of the big role my boy Blue was playing, and we all saw how that turned out…

If you’re a Lego fan (and frankly, what the hell are you doing here if you’re not?), you’ll be as interested as we were by the Lego CAD program. I mean, how cool is that? Design your own Lego structure and this tells you what blocks you’ll need and gives you blueprints. Computers!

I absolutely REFUSE to be even MILDLY excited by a trailer for the new Punisher. Seriously, hasn’t Frank Castle suffered enough? What’s next, the Uwe Boll version?

There have been a few million rants about the whole Platinum Studios mess. As far as we’re concerned, it’s over. DJ got his money, and if he’s not happy with the outcome, he’s at least done with it.

I hated Thomas Jane’s Punisher, but that wasn’t his fault. If anything, he’s gone on to really demonstrate his die-hard comic fandom - as evidenced by his take on Jonah Hex.

I finally made it into the show in time to do my own whining about how terrible my week had been. Seriously, this has been one of the roughest weeks I’ve had at my job in a LOOOOONG time, and the only thing that kept me going was the massive archive and incredible hilarity of Least I Could Do. That has got to be one of my favorite web comics I’ve read in a long time. I started waaaay back at the beginning and made it through the whole thing, and I was broken-hearted when I got to the end. Yeah, my work was insane, but it also left me a lot of free time while I was waiting for things to run and backups to build. And I am eternally grateful to Ryan Sohmer & Lar Desouza (and Trevor Adams and Chad Wm. Porter) for this comic. After I pay bills this month, you can damn well bet I’ll be buying ALL their books, and possibly a set (or two) of their shot glasses.

One of my favorite parts of this show (especially since I wasn’t there) was everyone trying to name the 80s cartoon themes. I think I smell a drinking game for the next time we’re hanging with the Hero Envy guys!

HappyJack leaps to the forefront of our pride parade this week with his confession about his lust for Ryan Reynolds. I can’t say I blame him - and he’s definitely a perfect pick for Deadpool.

(F’ing) Zach spends most of his day discovering things on the interweb he can forward all of us. I used to wonder why my Gmail was dumping his emails into my spam folder, but I think it’s pretty obvious. I mean, this is a guy who emailed us, “OMG - JARED’S DEAD!”

We LOVED our experiences at the Pittsburgh Con, so we’re really worried what this news is going to mean for the con in ‘09. After all the drama this year, we were really hoping they’d get back on their feet next year, but this has us nervous. Keep your fingers crossed!

Of all the incredibly STUPID shit people protest, taking a stance against EVIL characters SMOKING in movies is perhaps THE stupidest thing we’ve ever heard of. Really doc? This is the best use of your time? Why don’t you go find a cure for MS you asshole.

And speaking of people we want to punch in the throat, if you don’t recognize the importance of Jon Favreau to the Iron Man franchise, go ahead and punch YOURSELF in the throat.

I would like to see nothing less than the punishment of being drawn & quartered back into style just to deal with this evil, stupid bitch. The sad thing is, I don’t think what she did is illegal - I just think it’s evil and stupid, and she should have her ass kicked repeatedly.

There are stupid things being sold on eBay, and then there are stupid people selling things. Guess which one this is?

Dr. Sexy submitted his tshirt design for the CGS Super Show, but it didn’t make the cut. These ones did, however, and now the vote is in our hands. I’m partial to puppet Rios and the ball of doom, myself.

I think this would make the coolest gift for anyone that’s interested in geneology or just their family ancestory in general. I’d really love to get it done for Momma Kwipette, as she’s a nut for geneology.

Two of the biggest news items in the comicsphere lately have been Chuck Dixon leaving and the shitstorm surrounding Platinum Studios. There’s a good article discussing both of them right here. But there’s a LOT more about Chuck Dixon and the mess at DC here and here, and you can get some more insight into Platinum right here.

We’re all fans of the Greatest American Hero in these parts, so it’s quite a thrill to see William Katt is involved in comics. Now to get him doing the Con tours so we can take him drinking!

Dr. Sexy has an illness. It demands that he spend all his hard-earned cash on anything that is branded with Joker and/or Harley.

The Sexretary and Josie join us for the show. F’ing Zach is there, too, but he’s not allowed to talk on the mic, so you only know he’s there when we yell at him. Which is often. Or else when I’m busy making up facts to yell at him or misquote in his general direction. Not that I need him around to make things up, but it certainly helps.

I’m not the most observant person, but is it really NEWS that China is pirating comic books? I mean, did everyone think that was the ONE thing that China would NOT pirate? And not even singling out China here - has anyone been on the internet lately? I guess the thing that makes this distinct is that they’re actually being printed out.

If you haven’t given the Flobots a listen, please crawl out from under your rock and check that shit out. And as long as you’re checking that out, make sure you check out the project DJ Coffman’s working with them on.

When I turned 13, I had ice cream cake. It was pretty good, but it certainly wasn’t a hooker-laden LAN party

I don’t know whether to be horrified or amused at these images.

I am really a big fan of the Marvel Zombies. The second book was merely okay, but the first book was fantastic, I really loved it. But it’s just gotten WAY too over-done now. Kirkman even backed out, so why can’t we just let it rest?

Mike Manley’s a really cool guy and I enjoy hearing his thoughts on a variety of subjects. I haven’t worked up the courage to talk to him yet, but we see him at all the cons, so I really need to stop being a pussy and talk to him. It’s the fact that he really knows about art - not just BEING an artist, but the BUSINESS of being an artist. But his write-up on the Philly Con is dead-on, so make sure to give it a read.

I’m trying REALLY hard not to get excited about Hellboy II, but it just looks SOOO goddamn good.

This is a good read about the economics of comics. As someone that was forced out of buying comics because of money issues, I definitely found it interesting.

If you want a GOOD listen (and if you listen to us, it’s obvious you don’t, but still), you should give a listen to Skottie Young’s podcast. He’s one of those REAL artists.

We absolutely love Jim Butcher - the Dresden books are some of the best modern fantasy out there. And many years ago our buddy Jim was talking to Butcher about doing a LARP, and now that’s become a reality. So it’s really no surprise to see that Butcher is a LARPer.

Fallout is a classic gaming line, nobody can doubt that. But will Fallout 3 manage to uphold the reputation? I can’t say for certain, but I’m DAMN tempted to buy the Survival Edition - because I’m a sucker.

It’s great that Marc Guggenheim wants to make a “respectable” movie, but he really doesn’t seem to understand the place - the highly respected place, even if it is campy - that the Batman TV Show holds in comic lore.

Let me just state for the record: if when I become rich, I am SO becoming their sugar daddy. And not just because they asked - I had those plans in mind LONG ago…

It’s no secret how much we love DJ Coffman. And although he’s paused Hero By Night, he’s gone back to Yirmumah. And there was much rejoicing!

Just getting all the walls in our house painted is proving too difficult to me, so when I read this story, I was completely amazed. And that article (and accompanying slideshow) admit that they don’t do the house justice. It’s incredible, and someday (when I’m rich, remember?) I’m going to hire Eric Clough to build a house for Kwipette and I. If you’re nice, we’ll invite you over to help solve the puzzle! And kudos to the home owner who trusted him to let him really run with the ball there - just such a great story all-around.

We were all impressed with the new comic, Miserable Dasterds, hopefully out soon. It’s a funny concept and great artwork.

This was our Philly recap - but we didn't even come CLOSE to covering all of the events, people we met and con subjects we had to talk about. Apart from our silly stories, we also talk with the legendary DJ Coffman about the recent events at Platinum Studios, his new gig with Flobots and some political jibber jabber (that's technical terms). We tell the TINIEST fraction of stories about the incredible Jason E. Becker, and then we torment Mike Hopta from Hero Envy with uncomfortable tales of our drunken abuse (word of warning - don't come near us after the Pugilist has dropped off a present, or your liver will suffer the consequences!).

The N3RDs find themselves at the end of the first day of Wizard World Philly. They’re joined by Jason Earl Becker, (F’ing) Zach, JB, Josie, Jason Becker, Caitlyn, J Becker and even the REAL Jason Becker. And some surprise guests!

I’ll warn you that the audio quality can only be considered “brutal” and at times there are about five different conversations going on. If you’re one of the (five) people we met at Philly coming to check out our show, please don’t judge us by this one!

If you’re a regular listener, of course you know this is par for course.

Starting off the show with a bang, Happyjack has a surprise (by surprise, we mean not really a surprise if you listen to the show) announcement. This week we cover a lot of stuff we missed over the past couple of weeks, as the N3rds are back together again after a long hiatus. We talk about a lot of news, all the geek news that we like.  We watch some funny internet videos, no big woop.

Then we have a surprise chatroom caller who tells us all about some of his Japanese sex-ploits. Hear the tale of the “worst threesome in the world” in all it’s glory.  Guaranteed to make you feel so very sorry for our mystery guest that you will wish he never had a threesome (not really, in my opinion, any threesome is good, thank you).

We talk about comics this week: Amazing Spiderman, the Goon, Batman strikes, Walking Dead (spoiler everyone is f-ing dead), how much of a sucker Dr. Sexy is or all things Batman, including Batman: R.I.P, Booster Gold, Serenity: Better Days, we talk about the awesome Weapon: Brown so check that out, definitely.

Um…so that’s it I think.

P.S. Kwip can’t post, he’s on the toilet.

Without HappyJack again - he’s off somewhere, counting the millions he made on “Free? Comic Book Day.

Heath Ledger dying was a shame, but at least he got off a really brilliant performance before he died. I’m not being snarky there - I honestly think that what I’ve seen from the trailer alone is enough to earn him an oscar. But an oscar - let alone a post-mortum oscar - for a comic book movie? Crazy talk!

The fact that we’re even MENTIONED on the same page with the likes of Big Kev and Hero Envy is crazy. Which is a fair description of the Pugilist, honestly, but he’s a damn flattering chap and says wonderful things about us.

Comparing Iron Man to GTA4 automatically qualifies you for a throat punch from the N3RDCast. The line forms to the right, just behind Chris Nuttall and Matthew Garrahan.

I got the new NiN album. For the price, it’s absolutely brilliant. I’d even pay money for it!

If you talk about the Pittsburg Comic Con, the only thing I want to talk about is how great that show is, I don’t want to listen to the sensationalistic bullshit that gets the media foaming at the mouth.

Spaced is coming to America! And there was much rejoicing…

Marvel’s got a whole slew of new movies coming. Hopefully they’ll be more along the lines of Iron Man and not The Hulk.

The Library of Congress is cool and all, but they suck for not sharing their comics.

The butchery of Wolverine continues: you couldn’t write a worse Wolverine than what’s being done right now with this stupid cartoon.

We’ve got a couple listeners in Iraq now (big shout-outs, Guy and Ted!). I think that, given the choice, I’d rather hear an accidental phone call of them on the toilet rather than in the middle of a firefight.

Dr. Sexy thinks this is going to be my future. Jerk.

If there’s anything that classic horror films have in common, it’s the incredible make-up jobs that Jack Pierce did. Wolfman, Dracula, Frankenstein - you name them, Pierce did them. If there’s anyone that deserves a Hollywood star (and boatloads of money), it’s Pierce. He DEFINED the look of those monsters. Go sign the petition now.

Dr. Sexy really loves Reaper, and hearing him talk about it gets me interested every single time. I just never manage to find the time to watch it - but now I can watch it online for FREE! If you love it, why not mail out a sock or three?

You have to love a good inspirational poster.

I’m not sure that gum is going to make the difference in the war against Uwe Boll, but it can’t hurt.

This is a pretty long list of things that men need to know, but despite Dr. Sexy’s bitching, it makes for an interesting discussion with your friends, male or otherwise. How many things can you do?

GI Joe just looks so horrific. There is no hope for it - we’re split on the over-under for it vs. the Streetfighter movie - I’m going worse, Zach’s thinking it’ll be better, but not by much. Sexy thinks it’s time the show ends.

This is the BIG GIANT LIST of most of the books we got at NY and Pittsburgh. Obviously, there are some we still have to get through, and we’ll touch on them in the coming weeks, but this is the majority of the titles that Dr. Sexy and I had (HappyJack is off signing on Free Comic Book Day, being the creator that he is!).

You’re going to think that Tall Tails: Thieves’ Quest is a bad book by the way I bitch about it, but it’s not. Truth be told, I don’t really know WHAT kind of book it is, because I couldn’t force myself to finish it. That’s not a critique on the work, it’s because I HATE anthropomorphic comics. You’re reading those one day, the next day you’re getting a crotch access panel installed in your tiger costume. I gave it to Dr. Sexy to read; he’ll give it a much better review than me.

C.O.S.H. did not DELIBERATELY set out to trick me, I’m certain. I fully accept culpability for not asking the price and just assuming the sign that said, “Comics $3″ sitting RIGHT NEXT TO THEIR BOOKS meant their book was $3. Not the $10 it actually was. And man oh man, did I overpay. Bad. Bad, bad, bad, BAD. It’s not a comic, it’s an illustrated script. And neither of those pieces were done well.

Malcolm Hellbourne is in rough shape right now, but I think it really has potential. I’ll definitely get the next issue to see how they do with it. There’s definitely some good stuff in there, and some work on the writing and colors will definitely turn this book into a worthy purchase.

City of Walls is one of those books I can never make up my mind about. I hope they do a trade, because if I can read the whole arc at once, I’ll appreciate it a lot more.

I don’t remember if Jason Becker told me to buy Awakening, but I hope not. That guy’s already cocky enough! Awakening is a gem, a funky zombie story that I really, really liked. One of my happy purchases from NY.

Gunplay is a great book. HappyJack and Dr. Sexy weren’t as keen on issue 0, but I really liked it, even if it was a little confusing. The artwork’s incredible, and the story seems really intriguing - I’ll have to pick up the final/trade sometime.

Dr. Sexy was a fan of Patrick the Wolfboy and contaminated the rest of us with his love. That’s a great book with awesome art, and it’s another of those all-ages books that freaks people out when we talk about how much we love it.

Speaking of all-ages books, another one we absolutely loved is Amelia Rules. Jimmy Gownley is a heck of a nice guy and is somewhat of a local; apparently, we might be able to bribe him to come on the show with a Sugar Bowl Stromboli…

We got the chance to break out all our con knowledge to preach to Lance, as this was his first con with his book Beyond Good-N-Evil. It was a good book, so it was nice to have him as a neighbor.

And speaking of good neighbors, I highly recommend having an attractive woman across the aisle from you. If you can find one that does an excellent comic like Little Voodoo Man. I think it was a bit too pricey for the printing, but it’s a very good comic and Alexis is a wonderfully sweet girl.

Cory Harris and Ziggy Blumenthal are sick, twisted and horribly perverse individuals, and I love them dearly. Really funny guys who always seem to get stuck in a corner - but the payoff is that this led to the Corner Kicked comic, which makes everything okay. THAT is a terrible, offensive comic (and my favorite), but if you’re easily offended, you should check out Sidekicked! and Operation Pajama Pants.

Shawn Pryor is a fantastic guy. His books Mercury & The Murd and Exo-1 & The Rock Solid Steelbots are okay, but where Shawn really shines is his marketing genius. He created soundtracks to both the books that kick ass, and - even more of an eye-catcher - he created Mercury & The Murd dolls that were a GREAT hook at the booth.

Melody Anderson is absolutely GORGEOUS, a really funny and charming chick. I had a great chat with her, but I wish I had the cash on hand to get the audio commentary she and Sam Jones did for Flash Gordon. BUT - thanks to Big Kev - I can get it online!

Fat Momma is adorable. She’s the nicest person and wonderful to talk with, so if you see her at a con, throw her $10 and get an autographed photo!

Pugilist gave us a pretty embarrasing write-up. But not so embarrasing that I won’t link to it…

If you haven’t already, you absolutely need to start listening to Geek Savants (NOT Comic Savants - don’t ask me where I got that name). Episode 57 left me with aching sides from laughing. They’re vile, crude and foul - almost as bad as us, but much more likeable.

The Cosmic Hellcats made us all a little uncomfortable. And excited. But mostly uncomfortable.

One of the best comics I picked up at Pittsburgh was Tales from the Cornerstone. Andrew is a hell of a nice guy, so it was a big relief that I not only liked the free copy of his book he gave me, I liked it enough to pay for it AND for the second issue!

And speaking of great books, the other one I got at Pittsburgh was given to us by the lovely Comfort Love: The Uniques. It is a wordy book, but I really love it. The writing’s great, but the art is absolutely top-notch. Comfort is HUGELY talented. Supposedly her husband had SOMEthing to do with the book, too - but if you listen to the show, you’ll carefully note I’m only in love with Comfort, so we skip his involvement altogether (sorry, Adam - you’re a very talented guy, but I’m in love with your wife - don’t tell my wife, mmmkay?).

Oh, and we badly spoil Iron Man, so you’ll want to skip over that part.

Well, no live broadcast today. It’s just too difficult to pull off from the show floor, and we’ve got way too many childish antics to get up to. But I don’t want you to think we don’t love you - we certainly do! And to show our love, I put together some of our drunkenest hits!

Last night TripD, Dr. Sexy, HappyJack and myself sat down to recap the NY show. First, we got ourselves really good and drunk, of course. So you can hear our awesome story-telling skills when we’re completely shit-faced - complete with HappyJack passing out while we’re recording. It’s brilliant! Even better, I did what I could to clean up the recording we did at Blaggard’s last week and appended it to this show. It features Mike Hopta and Keith Gleason from Hero Envy, as well as a really, really drunk attempt to conduct an interview with Mike Diana.

Next week’s show is going to feature our recap of this con, and that is one you’ll ABSOLUTELY not want to miss. If nothing else, we’ll explain this picture.

I’m not even going to bother apologizing: this weekend was the Walk MS, so there was absolutely NO WAY I had time to do the time-stamping for this week’s show. I will tell you that Nate joins us at 1:59:20, so if you want to skip ahead to that, I understand.

Being the n3rds that we are, we are of course interested in new technology. And this week certainly seemed to be a week ripe with “speedy? new advancements. The first we saw was a slick new hard drive that holds 100 times more than current hard drives but without moving parts and without the loss that affects Flash memory after a time. Even more important, though, was the news that soon we could get our porn ten THOUSAND times faster! Now that’s technology I could get behind!

Being afraid to look at tall buildings from the ground let alone actually go UP in them, the idea of a building that’s TWO MILES HIGH completely freaks me out. While I am fascinated at the prospect of a Spacescraper because of my unending love of The Long Run, there’s just no way you could get me up in this building. I don’t care what insect design it seeks to emulate.

Continuing the subject of things that terrify me, the thought of being packed into a train like this ranks pretty high up there. I just can’t believe tolerate this.

I hate Ben Stiller. Always have. I haven’t liked a single performance he’s ever done, and I feel he’s the most over-rated actor and a complete hack. So it really infuriates me to see him involved in a project with Jack Black and a particularly brilliant role by Robert Downey, Jr.

We couldn’t even talk for several minutes because of our absolute disgust with the idea of grouping Jenna Jameson on the same panel with Amanda Connor and Louise Simonson. And then to have the gall to name it “Girls Who Kick Ass? and NOT have Gail Simone chairing the panel? Absolutely disgusting - but completely par for the sort of stupid shit we’re seeing from the NY Comic Con.

And as long as we’re talking about things that disgust us, how could we not mention this gem of a picture? Seriously, did this guy REALLY think the picture did anything even REMOTELY flattering for him? Maybe it was his entry into psycholosers.com?

I just can’t believe the McCain Girls are for real. Unpossible.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, when you’re completely gorgeous it’s okay if you make an ass of yourself, because you still look hot doing it and nobody cares (NSFW, and you’ll want about the 2 minute mark)

And if that wasn’t hot enough for you, StrongBad’s coming to the Wii.

I don’t know what it is that makes people take such delight in sending us the absolutely most disturbing news stories ever, but I wish they’d stop (only not really, what would we talk about?).

We’ve had some exchanges with the local Star Wars fans, but I would really like to get them on the show sometime to talk about their thoughts on the controversy surrounding the Stormtrooper costumes.

I’m sure it’ll come to no surprise to you if I show you how far behind the times on the interweb I am, but I just read this brilliant Cookie Monster article and had to share it.

Our guest this week (for REAL this time!) was Nate Piekos, the generous genius behind Blambot.com and the creator of Atland. It was a real pleasure to talk to someone that had not only the comic creator perspective, but also the view from someone that’s really done an incredible amount of work to help indie creators (and even established studios!). It was also nice to talk to him without hanging up on him.

We also get into the recap of the Ben Folds concert and the incredible froodness of his band

We only had a few titles to spoil this week: GOON #23, SERENITY BETTER DAYS #2, BOOSTER GOLD #8, JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #14, TINY TITANS #3, WONDER WOMAN #19, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #556, WILD CARDS #1.

And the Walk is over for us - expect a summary to go up on GfaC some time soon. It was SUCH an incredibly great time, particularly the NeenerPalooza! We just can’t thank everyone enough, both for walking and just for supporting us - financially, emotionally and physically! We really do have some of the most incredible friends and family in the ‘verse.

Granted, only SOME of them rock at Rock Band… ;)

What happens when we can't get to any of our stored notes and websites? WE GO COMPLETELY INSANE. Or at least very, very, VERY off-topic.

For a change, the massive technical glitches today were not my fault. Comcast was having problems until 3/4 of the way through our show, resulting in the show not being broadcast live, us not being able to get to most of our news stories, and the fun experience of hanging up on our guest. BRILLIANT! But the lack of real news leads us down some pretty dark paths - apart from a yelling match about fonts (why oh why didn’t I just rasterize the damn thing in the first place, honestly?), we also go back to our childhoods and the pathetic (or violent, for HappyJack) behaviors we engaged in.

Because I’m an insecure jerk, I can never believe that it’s just that Tycho’s too incredibly busy with a million-plus inbox; instead, I’m sure the reason he didn’t plug us this year is because he hates me. He has plugged us before, and I can’t honestly believe he’d have even heard of our mockery of Scott, let alone take offense at it.

We mock Scott, but Sexy and I both bought How To Make Webcomics, and it’s a damn fine book. Definitely recommended reading for anyone that wants to be in the business, is IN the business, or just plain interested in the business.

It’s probably old by now and you’re all sick of me talking about it, but I thought Urban Ninja II was a pretty hilarious combination of a couple different memes, and I’m pretty amused by it.

I’m glad someone broke down some of that Superman suit into easier-to-understand English. I think there’s still a LOT I (nor most people) don’t understand about it, and the impact of this decision is going to be very far-reaching, but it’s an interesting subject for comic nerds.

Wow, here I was investing in my 401k for retirement, when I really should have just been tracking down Action Comics #1.

Cereality is possibly the greatest fast-food idea I’ve ever seen. I would seriously consider opening up a franchise in Lancaster; I truly believe this is something that would do well right in our downtown area. And now that I’ve said it, of course one of you thieving bastiches is going to swipe the idea from me!

I think that child molestation is a serious issue. Bigfoot molestation? Not so serious.

I know that it’s a terrible, horrible thing to say things like, “she was asking for it? and I certainly don’t condone that. But neither do I condone the ridiculous idea that MySpace is actually to blame. Especially if you lied to join.

I do believe that what goes on behind closed doors is their business, so I’m torn when I read accounts like this. On one hand, it was the personal, adult decision of everyone involved. On the other hand, DIE YOU SICK NAZI FUCK.

I LOVE the movie theater experience. Here in Lancaster, I would absolutely recommend Penn Cinema as a wonderful, modern theater with very nice accomodations and great owners. Not only is a great facility, on Monday nights they show some classic flicks. I don’t bitch about the price of tickets because I really enjoy the whole experience and it’s absolutely worth that money to me. On top of that, I would definitely be willing to pay more for an even MORE luxurious experience!

I’m surprised it took this long for Guitar Hero to hit the DS.

Dear Hollywood: We don’t need another Knight Rider. Honest.

Because we love DJ Coffman and trust his opinion, we have a pretty high opinion of Platinum Studios and we’re very happy to see they’re doing well.

I only vaguely remember the Marvel RPG game. I’m definitely going to have to browse through the rules to see if it comes back to me.

Yes, of course we’re pissed at the idiots that run the NY Comic Con. Maybe we mentioned? But the exhibitors are going to have some INCREDIBLE swag up for grabs! Bring your elbow pads…

Nate Piekos is the incredible genius behind Blambot and at least a couple of brilliant webcomics(that one with others). He is renowned for his generosity, his openness, and his incredible work helping other creators. All in all, and amazingly clever, fun and generous guy. So of course we take the opportunity to hang up on him. Sigh.

Tori Amos is a favorite of all of us, and I think it’s safe to say we’re all going to check out this book. An added bonus: Kelly Sue DeConnick is one of the writers!

If your dad is a famous rock star (and I use that term loosely) AND he’s a comic fan, that sure as shit doesn’t mean you should get a free ride into comics. Especially if you’re such an obvious fucktard. And yes, I hate Kelly Osbourne.

Apparently it’s pretty easy to get a job under Tom Brevoort. Find a nice piece of artwork. Trace it. DONE!

Our thanks to Newsarama for putting together this great feature giving you the breakdown of costs on the Secret Invasion series. That’s a pretty clever idea, and props to Troy Brownfield for doing the legwork.

We only spoil a few titles this week: KICK ASS, COMICS FOUNDRY, THE BOYS, SECRET INVASION, PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL.

So I know everyone was heartbroken you didn’t get to listen to it live, but you can still RIGHT-CLICK HERE AND CHOOSE “SAVE AS…?

We have some wonderfully uncomfortable sex talks in this show. And the weird thing is that HappyJack’s not even there, so I don’t really know who we can blame it on. I guess Josie - she was filling in for HJ, after all. But the end result for YOU, poor listeners, is that you’re going to be subjected to even MORE gross dirt talk that you wish you knew nothing about! Ha-ha, take THAT!

Titles we spoil this week: INVINCIBLE #49, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #554, CAPTAIN AMERICA #36, FRANKLIN RICHARDS SPRING BREAK, IMMORTAL IRON FIST #13, INCREDIBLE HERCULES #115, ORDER #9, THOR #7, JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #19, FABLES #71.

I don’t really understand how Take Two can be doing so poorly as to be susceptable to a hostile takeover, but apparently it’s a very real threat. I can’t imagine that a hostile takeover would result in a productive game studio, but who knows - maybe the employees desperately want to work for EA?

Sexy knows one of the babes of Ninja Babes from Outer Space as well as the stunt coordinator, so I’ve got high hopes that we could actually get some of them on the show. It’s got pretty incredible production quality for an internet show and the “babes? are just that, so it’s definitely a show worth checking out.

The Foot Fist Way looks absolutely hilarious. We’ll have to remember to thank Will Ferrel and Adam Mckay next time we see them.

So there are SwiftKids for Barak and for Hillary, but I don’t think either group is particularly strong in these showings

When I said I spent eight hours on this site, it just might have been an understatement. Three of them, three of us - coincidence?

While I’m sad to hear of Arthur Clarke’s passing, he lived a long, extremely fruitful life and left behind a fine legacy. I’m sad solely for selfish reasons, I realize. But The Star has always been one of my absolute favorite short stories.

Speaking of great scientific minds, did you see they’ve created the robot that’s going to be used to run us all down? That thing’s incredible. Make sure you stick through to see it jump, that’s just crazy.

He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named has a new career as a DJ with his dancy-pants techno mix. Which is good, since he’s losing his other career.

Obviously there’s been a ruling in the Michael George case. I don’t know that the truth will ever be known, but I feel bad for everyone involved. And yet, despite being in the midst of a murder trial, Renee George (and her staff) still manage to out-perform the lackluster buffoons at the New York Comic Con. How is that possible?

Out of all the new shows coming on SciFi, the only thing that really caught my eye is the new Scare Tactics, and that’s just because of Tracy Morgan’s involvement.

Never having watched the Batman animated series, I’m not the best one to comment on this, but Sexy insists that Kevin Conroy doing the voice is big news.

Speaking of cartoons I don’t watch, the new Spider-Man has Sexy excited, too. But mostly because of the dirty images that come to mind with The Shocker.

It’s amazing that DJ Coffman can do an “accident? and still create a cooler piece of art than many other artists create on purpose.

Sexy likes this Snake Eyes, but I think Spandex as a uniform is damn silly. I’d like it better if he the costume was made from canvas or at least the material they make BDUs from.

“Mike, you’ve just won an Oscar for having the coolest web show in the ‘verse. What’re you gonna do??
I’M DRINKING WITH THE N3RDCAST!?

It’s pretty cool when they can get most of the crew together from a beloved show. I’m still waiting to see the gang from S:AaB together again…

I think it’s incredibly hilarious that Harvey Dent has run a more effective campaign than Hucklebee. Take that, Chuck.

I can’t believe I didn’t even think of it until Sexy pointed it out, but of course it makes sense that JMS would not be renewing his exclusive Marvel contract. After they shitted on him, it’s a bit of a surprise he’s doing ANYthing with them anymore. Or at least until the leadership there changes.

I’m fascinated by the idea of the Skrull pantheon duking it out with the various Earth pantheons. I hope Spaghetti Monster shows up to kick ALL their asses!

This is your last chance to turn back. Ahead lies madness! No? Alrighty then, don’t come crying to me when your eardrums bleed. RIGHT-CLICK HERE AND CHOSE “SAVE AS…?

This show is only for the strong of stomach. We don’t pull any punches, we come out brutal right out of the gate. That’s your warning, by the way. If you listen to this show, your stomach will be put to the test.

One of the things that never ceases to amaze me is what people find hot. I’m all for costumes, especially those involving latex. But this? Really? Ugh. I think the more important question here, though, is why Justin felt the need to share that horror with me…

Sexy is damn excited about LEGO Batman, and I can’t say that I blame him. This looks pretty damn hot. But now that he’s all worked up, they yank the carpet out from under him by destroying Oz. Again. Hopefully this version of Oz will save his soul.

It’s easy to predict that now I’m trying to stop buying comics, all sorts of interesting projects show up. Matamoros really caught my eye, and I might have to at least page through it at the comic store.

I want to be a generous person, but I can’t even imagine parting with all these comic books. Hell, I can’t imagine GETTING all these comic books, either. But that sort of thing inspired Sexy to consider donating some of his books. This organization seems to do that sort of thing, but we don’t really know enough about them to judge yet.

With all the cartoon news going on, it was interesting to note a smaller note, that Robert Englund’s doing the voice of Vulture.

I STILL haven’t seen I Am Legend, and I’m pissed I missed it on the big screen. But I’m eager to see it (even if it’s bad) so I can watch this alternate ending.

Did we mention how incredible these pics from The Watchmen look? Please let it be good. PLLEEEEAAASSSSEEEEE!

I would feel bad about this if it had happened to someone that wasn’t a drunk driver. But she was, so HA HA HA HA!

Since we all love the ladies, especially our comic ladies, this article was definitely an interesting read. But I’m not sure I’d give Mystique three claws.

Joining us today is Mike Hopta, one of the brilliant minds behind the hilarious Hero Envy (he’s one of the ones that DOESN’T touch you inappropriately - at least, not for free). We love those guys, and every time we talk to them, we get more excited about partying it up in NY (and Philly)!

Short spoiler list this week without HappyJack, but still a final few titles I picked up and Sexy still has the usual stack: ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN THE BOY WONDER #9, BATMAN #674, FABLES #70, FREDDY VS JASON VS ASH #5, JACK OF FABLES #20, JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #13, CAPTAIN AMERICA #35, DAREDEVIL #105, NEW WARRIORS #9, THOR #6, ACTION COMICS #862.

Despite a lack of HappyJack, board regular WildWon joins us, along the always lovely Josie, so at least the webcam was put to good use this week!

Is Mr. T in a graphic novel really in “high demand?? That seems a little fishy. But hey, if Female First is reporting on Mr. T, who are we to question them?

I can’t wait to get my copy of “The Ten-Cent Plague: The Great Comic-Book Scare and How It Changed America? by David Hajdu. That just sounds like a fascinating look at a crazy time in America’s history.

As someone that’s never experienced piss shivers, I’m still fascinated by the strange things our bodies can do.

Is there anyone that has NOT seen the Jimmy Kimmel fucking Ben Affleck video yet? Or the Seth Rogen version?

Kwipette and I are closer than most couples. I have done things involving her body that aren’t fit to discuss in mixed company. However, there’s NO WAY IN HELL you could talk Kwipette into letting me wax her bikini line. Nor would I want to, mind you. I’m not going to be responsible for that sort of pain!

Keith from Hero Envy (finally!) shared this with us: Zombie Country. If you haven’t seen it yet, get on it!

We’re going to be at the Wizard World Philly con. You know why? BECAUSE IT’S NOT RUN BY TOTAL IDIOTS. Unlike SOME cons we could mention (NEW YORK!)

It’s a good thing HappyJack wasn’t here, because according to this test, I’m a huge racist.

NBC.com USED to have full episodes of Buck Rogers, but keeping with their long tradition of destroying great shows, they’re not there anymore.

How can ANYONE be this much of a scumbag? I just don’t understand it.

I think the rest of the Internet has already talked this game up enough, but it really IS a great game so you should check it out.

Yeah, I know, I swore off comic books, but dammit, it’s like Joss was just WAITING for me to do that so he could spring THIS on me!

I can’t wait to see the pictures of this gathering.

Woody, Sexy and I used to play the Hell out of DDO. I miss that, so I’m interested in seeing what the game looks like now. Hopefully I’ll get some playtime in! It’s a whole week of free game time, so I would THINK I could get in there at SOME point next week!

Mark Millar’s got a damn interesting idear here. I’m really fascinated by the prospect, but again, I think he waited till I was off of comics to spring it on me. Jerk. Someone needs to tell him to stop coming up with good ideas until I’m ready to buy comics again, mmkay?

I don’t know why Sexy thought HappyJack needed help ticking people off, but now there’s apparently lists of ways to be like HappyJack. Doesn’t seem long enough, really.

Who needs to watch an entire movie when it’s summed up nicely in under a minute? Saves me SOOO much time!

I’ve lived in a lot of weird places. But never a garbage truck. Yet. And if I ever get to, somehow I don’t imagine it will be this nice.

Awesome props to Big Kev’s Geek Stuff for scoring a spot on XM radio! Preach the good word of Geekdom, brothers!

Zac tracked down some updates on the GenCon situation, and it was a pretty interesting update. Definitely give this a read!

Zac joins us in the studio today, much to the dismay of Paulo. We're so jam-packed with news today, we barely have enough time to discuss comics, so the only titles we spoil this week are: IMMORTAL IRON FIST ORSON RANDALL GREEN MIST DEATH, INCREDIBLE HERCULES #114, LOCKE & KEY #1, UMBRELLA ACADEMY APOCALYPSE SUITE #6, THE ORDER #8. Deadpool COULD be a great character, but I'm not sure how they're going to do him justice in a movie since they can't even get Wolverine right. I don't understand how GenCon, THE biggest gaming convention (I think?), can possibly be so poorly managed it goes bankrupt? I mean, even as feckless as Reed (the company managing the NY Comic Con) is, at least those guys make money (mostly by raping people with table prices and ignoring smaller creators). In my long string of getting things wrong about Cryptic, the latest rumor I'm not understanding is how Cryptic is doing an MMO of Champions, but isn't saying if they have the RPG license? Say what you want about Lindsey, but these pics are pretty hot. But it's too bad they tried to emulate Marilyn instead of just shooting her by herself in her own poses. It's a damn shame that someone I loved so much in Mean Girls has fallen so far. I'm glad to see DC is setting up strict guidelines for their artists. But I'm sort of torn - I HATE ridiculous lags between issues coming out (Ultimate Hulk vs. Wolverine, anyone?), but at the same time, I hate the idea of creators not getting the time they need to do a title justice. I guess it makes more sense on monthly books than special titles, but we'll see how this pans out. I love Chris Weston's work on The Twelve. But I'm very glad that his confrontation with burglars turned out better than George Harrisons. Important note for you kiddies: Oi! works better than Hare Krishna! I desperately want to get into shape. The guys desperately want me to videotape myself doing Cardioke. There might be a comprimise in there somewhere... People who bemoan the low quality of our show since Pulsar left can now understand why he had to leave us. He had a very promising movie career to purse: Demonstration of the Dead
Everything we're seeing from The Watchmen looks great, but I'm still scared! Now that's it's wrapped, hopefully it won't be long... I want to get caught up on Torchwood, I just down't know when I have time! Will Ferrell and Dave Grohl Live are two of my favorite performers, but usually they're in completely different venues. But not this time! I love seeing Batman merchandise when it's done creatively or cool. These are neither. But if you want to see cool toys, check these out! I have a lot of problems with Joe Q's decisions as the Big Giant Head of Marvel. But nothing personal - yet I'd definitely pay money for someone else (with better coordination) to take a few swipes at him. We've absolutely had it with the shitty way that the NY Comic Con is run. It's full of feckless, clueless dipshits that don't bother getting back to you if you're "nobody," even if you want to give them money. They've lied to us about having a table for us in Podcast Alley since September (when they can be bothered to get back to us at all). Look, I'll be the first to admit we're not Marvel and we're certainly not going to throw that sort of money around. But we wanted to give them SOME MONEY. We're not looking for handouts or VIP treatment - just to be treated as a CUSTOMER. And the best they can do is blame it on antiquated software? SPEND SOME OF THOSE GODDAMNED MILLIONS YOU'RE MAKING ON TABLE SPACES AND UPGRADE AND/OR HIRE MORE MONKIES, YOU ASSHOLES! Yeah, we're still going this year because we've already made plans (plans to rock out with the Hero Envy crew, and maybe Jason Becker if we can get that crazy bastard out of the south, and maybe even hunt down Dan SLOTE!) We'll see everyone at our tables in Pittsburgh, someplace that knows how to treat customers! But hey, no need to worry - Reed is selling off their other businesses just to focus on their conventions! JOY! Matt Fraction is a great guy. He even turned off his douche filter to let our call get through! The interview with him was a blast. But after talking with the incredible Kelly Sue and now Matt, I can only imagine what kind of wonderful creative machine Henry Leo is going to be. The future is in good hands! HappyJack and I lived together for about a year after I got out of the Army. They were dark, evil times full of doing rude things to each other. It's what roommates are for, really. Just ask Nick Thune. It's funny when someone that has no clue about The Boys talks about it. Yeah, we're elitist, fuck off. Where oh where can we find an attractive girl to proposition fine Irish bars in NYC to let us fill up with our reckless drinking and debauchery? Oh, right, Christine! GamersForACure.org is going to be the "HQ" site for Team N3RD's fundraising efforts in the upcoming Walk MS event. We hope to start updating the site in March, so we better get moving! With the wonderful support of our friends (like Dr. Sexy), is it any wonder we raise thousands of dollars every year? I'm not a fan of these casts, but Sexy's digging them. Christopher Priest absolutely defined Black Panther to me, and made him an interesting character instead of the ridiculous characature he is now. So I'm interested in the new project he's working on and I definitely hope it does well for him. I love the Foo Fighters and hate the ridiculous animated Wolverine show coming out. Guess who I'm siding with in this lawsuit? If you use iTunes but hate their DRM, check this out. People think we're kidding when we tell them about Columbia, PA. We're not. Squashing is horrific. I feel really bad for this artist. There's no doubt in my mind that those assholes stole her shirt design, but I don't know if she'll be able to have anything done about it. I hope so, I just have zero faith in our legal system. But that's why you shouldn't shop at Hot Topic - get your cool shirts (and other music stuff!) at AngryYoungandPoor.com! The breakdown that Eric Canete posts is fascinating. That guy's awesome, and even more so for sharing that. Poor Sexy. When Morrison talks about it, Batman's easy to follow. But looking in the book, it's definitely NOT that easy. I thought Battlepope was brilliant, but I don't see it working as a cartoon, which is damn sad. The site was down when we started the show but as soon as I alerted DreamHost, they looked into it and promptly rebooted the server - AND gave me a free month hosting! I really do love those guys. The Studio’s good and damp this week, and not just because Josie joined us! We suffered some heavy flooding here, and our dehumidifiers and heaters haven’t been working for crap.

Sexy and HappyJack were both interested in the Fantastic Comics that came out last week, but not interested enough to shell out the cover price. It’s an interesting idea, but it might have been better served with fewer stories and a lower cover price on the first outing.

It breaks my heart that I can’t listen to Chaos Radio on Friday nights now. I don’t know if it’s temporary or what, but…can we have Heide?

I think it’s no mystery whose side we’re going to be on in a Gail Simone vs Dave Sim feud (or Gail vs anyone, for that matter). Gail’s being nice there, but it’s obviously a front. She was just WAITING to whup some ass!

How much do we love RiffRaffTheater.com? Enough to sponsor a prize for their latest undertaking: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen!

Speaking of awesomeness, if you like MST3K (or RiffRaffTheater!), check out CinematicTitanic.com.

Steve Gerber’s passing was definitely a loss. Made even moreso by the fact I didn’t realize HOW great he was until I read his obituary write-up at CBR.

So I guess we’ll never have a shortage of problems with The Watchmen. The latest is a lawsuit from Fox directed at Paramount. Good luck figuring it out!

Why does Marvel keep shitting all over characters we love and then handing them off to great creative teams? Is it some sort of challenge? Have those creators lost a bet or something? Iron Man was always a favorite of mine until Civil War turned him into a giant douche. I’m eager for Fraction and LaRocca to redeem him!

Lego Indy is the absolute BOMB. Warning: Time WILL be wasted!

I’m going to stop speculating on ANYTHING Cryptic-related. I’m always wrong.

I’m seriously considering proposing to Johnny Chung Lee. Maybe not marriage, but some sort of indentured servitude that gets me access to all the cool shit he invents? He’s like the Reed Richards of our universe!

We all like Mark Millar. We liked Civil War (for most of it). But the best-selling book in the past fifteen years? Glad he clarified it, I guess?

Dr. Sexy’s beside himself with glee at the thought of hearing Skottie Young’s soothing tones on a regular basis.

I know we’re a pathetic, desperate group. But at least we haven’t stooped to Air Sex. Yet.

Yes, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named really IS that big of a asshat. Is anyone surprised?

We talk with DJ Coffman today, and it’s great fun all around. He’s a great guy, someone we always enjoy hanging with at cons, and we always talk about how much we love his book. Sexy and HJ get a special kick from talking some art tricks with him.

We let Johnny Arkham into the show this week and then Eli had to follow - but he made sure he was late so we had to take time out of the show to break his mic. That’ll teach him.

I’m not reading Justice League: The New Frontier, but Sexy is and he was really impressed with the review that Harry gave of the animated adaptation of the title. I’m not a big fan of the Silver Age comics myself, but I’ll have to check this out. By stealing it from Sexy, of course.

It’s been a long time since The Killing Joke came out, and we all like it. But reading George Khoury’s article about it really brought it back to life for me and made me want to break it out again just to relive the awesomeness.

As an avid gamer, I’m interested in the prospect of Marvel starting their own gaming arm. I just hope they do it right and get some of the many talented people out there to oversee the division. And keep Joe Q far, far away.

The Queeries are possibly the greatest comic book awards show on the Interweb. Start shopping for your red-carpet dresses and Armini (like I care how that’s spelled) tuxes now!

We really like Chuck Satterlee, so I hope this whole dust-up ends well for him. We did get some of the “inside scoop? while hanging with him and Bruce at the Comic Geek Speak 300 event. He’s a very funny guy and our favorite creator that is still being hunted by a shepherd’s pie…

Did we really need a Wolverine animated series? With a shitty soundtrack?

This has to be one of the coolest comic book rooms I’ve ever seen. Obviously the guy’s got more money than the rest of us combined, but it’s an incredible room and very sweet setup. I’d really like to do something even half as cool. I can’t even get my books organized, let alone space set up for them!

My buddy Chris Hanel is one of the brillian minds behind Riff Raff Theater. I’m sorry we didn’t get a hold of him, because they managed to get Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy & Bill Corbett to do Batman & Robin. Chris and James Whistler managed to get the crew of MST3K back together to do an INCREDIBLE job with fan-submitted & their own jokes. Seriously, you have to check this out, it’s absolutely hilarious.

Sexy hated this cover but I really liked it. Obviously, I have terrible taste in art, but I thought this was really cool, stylized artwork.

I think we can all agree that Ambush Bug is one of the greatest characters ever created. I’ve always felt that he was never given the proper respect, and I’m sure Giffen will now propel him to one of the most important characters in the DC ‘verse. Jann Jones, I love you.

If we could have had more time to prepare, I really would have liked to have attended Monster-Mania ConX. They’ve got some awesome guests scheduled (just ignore Dr. Sexy) and it would be cool to meet Rowdy Roddy, a childhood icon of mine.

I love seeing fan projects, and the dedication to re-create The Dark Knight trailer in Lego is indeed impressive.

Why oh why do we need Phoenix back?

We’ve taken shots at Kurtz in the past, but I’m a regular listener of Webcomics Weekly and I think it’s full of really good information and a very valuable listen. So I’m definitely going to be buying “How To Make Webcomics.?

Sexy’s excited about The Fly coming back since The Giff is interested in doing some Impact Comics’ titles.

Stephen Brust is one of my favorite authors. Sebine proved herself the most awesomest of awesomes because she actually tackled him and got me an autographed copy of one of his books. And now he’s written a book in my favorite setting, Firefly (props to Firefly MMO for that scoop!).

Speaking of Firefly, Marian Call is the incredible singer that provided much of the music for today’s show. Browncoats: if you hurry, you still might be able to get a copy of her album Vanilla with the Saffron-inspired song, “It Was Good For You, Too.?

The Lancaster County Library Librarians (Sue and Jennifer) that joined us were very kind and gracious for putting up with us, but I think we were all on our best behavior, so yaay us! They use a variety of websites to check reviews and learn about trades they should be getting, and they also put out their own blogs that share their thoughts on comics (and other subjects, of course). It was interesting to hear how comics are picked for the library and the process for getting them on the shelves. And it’s always cool to share some of our favorite trades with other people, so go N3RD Philanthropy!

6:50 - The Queeries

I think they chose to have more news items than ever before just to give me more work to do on a show I wasn’t on. Well, except to be mocked. But I don’t really need to be absent for that, do I?

I have no idea what titles we spoil this week because I’ve already done 2 hours of the show to get these notes, no way am I making it the rest of the show. And those bastards certainly didn’t take any notes, so blame them!

I don’t know why they’d put superheroes on stage. Well, except for mockery.

Matt Fraction is always a good read, especially when he’s talking Iron Fist and “Green Mist of Death.?

Brubaker does an incredible job on Cap. He talks a bit about that here as well as some of the numerous projects he’s worked on.

I have nothing personal against the folks at Newsarama, but I don’t understand if they’re trying to be a serious journalistic source. If they’re not, cool, I get that. But if they ARE trying to be taken seriously, couldn’t they do better questions than these softballs?

Bill Willingham is another of our favorite writers, and it’s a shame he had to leave Salvation Run. But given his explanation, it makes sense.

Sexy found some other comic news sites.

Should we make Black Canary sexy? Nah, let’s just make her look like a crazy whore!

I’m not as big a fan of Terry Goodkind as Sexy is. I liked the first couple of books, but then they just got too repetitive. I mean, is there ANYTHING the almighty Richard can’t do? Still, it’ll be interesting to see Sam’s take on the series.

I agree with Sexy here, though: it’d be pretty interesting to see a more modern, darker look at Freddy Krueger.

Mike Kunkel’s artwork is incredible, and I’m looking forward to his Billy Batson work.

Nobody seemed to remember that we were neighbor’s with CJ Henderson at the Lehigh Valley Con. It’s probably because they weren’t the ones that spent their paycheck on every book he’s every printed… Yes, even the kid’s book.

King of Kong/Fistful of Quarters has been around the web for a bit, but Zac actually got to watch it. I should steal it from him.

Because 2 Girls 1 Cup is STILL NOT DEAD, behold 2 Girls 1 Cup the Sitcom!

Some people might find tongues impressive and/or sexy, but… Ugh. I’m not one of those people. Even her.

Did Underdog Lady really need to come back?

YOU CAN’T STOP THE MOONINITES, BITCHES! REMEMBER 1/31/07!

Remember when you were thirteen and were mature, quiet and kept your stupid opinions to yourself? Yeah, neither does the Rambo Kid.

You can tell the guys really missed me. They’re completely broken up; the pain and loneliness comes through. And it’s great that they make sure that nobody misses their racial slurs in the chatroom by sharing them on the mic, too, just to make sure you know my “sighing? and “scowling? isn’t present to screw them up. Ah, high-brow entertainment, that’s what we’re all about here!

You’re not going to believe this: We had technical difficulties! Honestly, some days I just don’t know why I get out of bed. I just don’t know where the problem lies: is it Stickam? Me? Comcast? Some combination therein? Whatever it is, we had to restart the show once we got

Once again I’m sure most of you are here to listen to the lovely Kelly Sue Deconnick, so I’ll go ahead and tell you that starts at the 59:00 mark. Kelly Sue, beside having one of the most frighteningly-titled blogs out there, is a very wonderful sport and all-around interesting person. She’s done a lot of interesting things in her life and seems to be one of those people that knows a little bit about everything.

I’m all for practical jokes. But I’m a bit of a wuss and don’t think that my mother being raped in the room next door while I’m tied to a stove is a good idea. I used to think that the idiots from Jackass took things too far, but Infarto’s an entirely new level. But as horrific as that is, I’d still rather watch that than Ex-Factor.

Yeah, I have no idea who Erik Larson is, I suck. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t get a kick out of reading his thoughts on One More Day.

I don’t see how Apple thinks their video rentals are going to do any better than the original Divx player. And I’m not the only skeptic.

It’s a safe bet that we’re already gay for Johnny Depp, but his generosity and general frood-ness is pretty damn impressive.

Jumping on couches is NOTHING. You’d better watch this before the crazies torch the building housing the servers to stop the truth from being spread!

I don’t know who designed this or who would buy it, but you can damn well bet it’s not a comic book fan.

Go here. Jump to 24 seconds in. Laugh. It’s okay, laugh.

Jim Jeffries needs to stop playing “I wonder what fits up HERE??

This article about comic books in libraries is pretty fascinating. I wasn’t aware of the business aspect of comics in libraries, but it certainly makes sense. I’d like to see more libraries build up collections like our local library - I certainly think it’d be a smart investment for the big comic companies to get their products out there to drum up interest from new readers, but I also think it’d be great to see more indy books in libraries. Mostly so I could read them first before investing in them!

George Romero’s early work stands as a monument to awesomeness. Granted, Land of the Dead was lame, but everyone’s allowed a do-over, right? Here’s hoping that this gets him back on track.

Becker can piss and moan all he wants about us being assholes for telling the truth about what we thought about the Hamtramck Idea Men’s offerings, but they asked us. I respect the hell out of those guys for A) actually finishing a project (make that MULTIPLE projects) and then B) offering it up for review. You can damn well bet that when (if) I ever finish a script, that bitch is getting locked away so I can say it was the greatest book ever and no one will know any different! But look man, if you ask our opinions, you’re going to get them. I think it’s a much worse disservice to suck someone off when I have serious reservations about their work. I love indie creators and want to support them, but as a creator you’ve got to be able to take criticism. If it helps you, fantastic! If it’s merely bullshit offered up by some fat blathering idiot that has never published a comic (ie, me) then ignore it and be on your merry way. But you can’t put something out there and only want to hear praises. I’d also like to think that we tried to be as constructive as possible in our critiquing (especially considering our normal criticism).

I don’t know if you’ll find it helpful, but if you don’t want to listen to THIS ENTIRE EPISODE THAT YOU CAN RIGHT-CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD TO YOUR COMPUTER, you can skim through it according to these notes:

Titles we spoil this week are: GOON #20, BATMAN STRIKES #41, SALVATION RUN #3, SPIRIT #12, INFINITE HORIZON #2, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #546, HULK #1, MIGHTY AVENGERS #7, PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL #15, TWELVE #1, X-FACTOR #27, BOYS #14, KILLING PICKMAN #2. That seems like an awfully short list, but that’s all I can remember.

Yeah, so, I don’t think it’s much of a surprise to anyone that knows me that I’m neurotic and have issues. I don’t think I do a very good job explaining myself there. It’s not that I have a problem with attractive women. I simply have a problem with ME being NEAR attractive women. Well - the ones I’m not married to, that is…

I’m not sure why Sexy wants to rekindle the fight between Steve Niles and Matt Busch. That Matt guy seems like a pretty big douche - which we’re basing on his “Rock Star of Illustration? title - so we’re mostly in Steve’s corner (with the exception of HappyJack, who hates everyone). That whole thing just seemed like such a kiddie drama, I’m not sure why it didn’t just break into a slapfight and be done with it. Trust me, I know allll about slapfights.

We love Keith Giffen. When we heard he was going on to do his column at Comic Book Resources, we were all excited, because the guy’s funny as hell and just an interesting person. But I don’t think he’s wrong about marriages being bad and about comics being for kids. I’m really looking forward to having our local comics dealer come on the show to discuss the demographics of comic buyers.

I didn’t even know about the PEDO-Phile joke, but it was interesting to read. I love hearing about those jokes that are hidden (and not really hidden!) in the comics that manage to make it through the editorial process.

HappyJack hooked Dr. Sexy up with The Flash’s Rogue War and it’s fantastic. So it’s interesting to read the Geoff Johns interview here that talks about the new Rogue’s series. And as long as I’m linking to Geoff Johns articles, this is another good one worth reading, too.

It’s true, we have a new member of the N3RD crew: The Sexretary. If you’re unfortunate enough to guest on our show, you can take some comfort in the fact that you’ll get to chat with the lovely Sexretary.

Our local library has always been a hot spot for me because they’ve got a decent sci-fi selection and a pretty good reference section. I’m a huge fan of the library system, and our library in particular has always seemed like a great one. But now they’ve gone up a few steps with a pretty impressive comic collection. Not just the ones you’d expect like The Sandman - they’ve got a bunch of great titles there that include stuff like Constantine, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and any number of DC and Marvel trades.

Being the new owner of a slim PSP that I am, I was pretty excited about Skype coming to the PSP. I just hope it works better on the PSP then it’s been working in the studio.

I don’t even know where we could possibly fit it, but I’d still love to have that 150″ plasma display. I’m thinking we’ll just replace one of the walls in our house with it.

I’ve been watching the Blu-Ray versus HD fight since before they were launched, but it finally looks like there’s some motion towards a winner. I don’t know if that’s going to pan out, but I hope so, I want to get me a PS3 and an HD TV and rock some… erm… Well, I don’t know, but I’m sure SOME movie’s coming out soon that’ll look great!

I think we’ve talked about this song before, but if you haven’t heard it, it’s definitely worth a listen.

With as pissed as we are about OMD, we all had a good laugh at this story about violence breaking out at a comic signing. It figures that Dan Slott is - as should be - to blame.

I can’t explain how important Neuromancer was to me as a young teenager. It was my first introduction to the whole Cyberpunk genre, and really sank it’s hooks into me. I still reguarly read that book at least once a year, and love it just as much. Other Gibson books are also great, but none of them were as significant to me as Neuromancer. So you can only imagine my DELIGHT to see the brain-damaged Darth ShittyActor taking the lead in the movie adaptation.

Dr. Sexy really liked the Snuggler video, but I’m much more partial to Between Two Ferns.

After being around the internet for years, you get accustomed to seeing board moderators go insane. But as old hat as it is, it can still be pretty amusing when someone gets up on their soapbox to tell everyone else not to get on theirs.

One of these days I’m going to remember to record the beginning of the damn show. I MUST next time, because Sexy came up with a new intro bit that’s pretty amusing. Too bad for you that you weren’t there to hear it! You’ll just have to settle for the show from the point I started recording.

We somehow managed to land Dan Slott! He calls in for over an hour of talking about Brand New Day, his career as a writer, funny stories about office antics, and dashing our dreams of he and Gail Simone marrying. It’s a testimony to his kindness that he puts up with us and our antics for over an hour.

Titles we spoil this week: THUNDERBOLTS #118, HOWARD THE DUCK #4, ULTIMATE HUMAN #1, MAGICIAN APPRENTICE #12, THE END LEAGUE #1, GRAVEL #0, EXILES #1, JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED #41, TEEN TITANS YEAR ONE #1, MOON KNIGHT #14, DETECTIVE COMICS #840, BUFFY #10, ATOMIC MIKE #1.

I don’t care what Dr. Sexy says - this video may not be the coolest thing in the world, but the girls have hot bodies and that alone makes it worth watching. And he’s also a jerk face for not giving this video it’s proper dues as one of the greatest videos to appear on YouTube (yeah, I’ve linked to that one before, shaddup).

Honestly, I can’t believe Sexy’s kept up with Countdown this long. Interviews like this make it sound like such a brutal read - if you’re extremely well-versed in the DC ‘verse, I guess you’re getting a lot more out of it, but the whole thing just seems painful.

This is NOT part five of five, it’s something completely unrelated to One More Day and more about Joe Q and his magical guitar collection and restaurant endeavors.

DJ Coffman needs higher standards. We loved his book and were thrilled to meet him, so the honor was all ours. But if he thinks we’re cool NOW, just wait till the KN3EFest when we make him throw up his kidneys!

I don’t know why Heide’s so insecure - she’s our favoritest Cringe Humor personality, but that’s just because she’s read more comics than Kieran... But we’re all madly in love with her, and it’s pretty obvious why: her lovely, lovely command of the history of the Blitzkrieg.

Sure, it’s gimmicky, but I really like the idea of ranking the possible Skrull agents as playing cards. It’s a neat trick, and kudos to Dave Richards at CBR for coming up with it!

As excited as I am about Iron Man, the idea of an Avengers movie - especially if it’s done with the same quality Iron Man promises - is pretty exciting.

I hope these notes aren’t true, because I liked the job Bryan Singer did. It wasn’t the greatest Supes story that could’ve been told, and I’m not crazy about the actor they have playing Supes, but overall I enjoyed the movie.

Look asshole: if you’ve got TENS of THOUSANDS of dollars to blow on Star Trek props, life’s already been far too kind to you. If the worst thing that happens to you is you get ripped off in an auction, you deserve your money back - maybe. But possibly a kick to the balls, too. But if you turn around and sue for MILLIONS? You deserve to… I don’t know, something that Becker would come up with to punish you.

Look, it’s obvious that the important thing in this show is the Dan Slott call (which starts at about 47:11). But I’d suggest you stick around till the end, because the phone calls from Rob Leifeld and Peter David are really worth listening.

The best part of this show is that I completely forgot to start recording. I COULD have gone back and inserted the intro music, but everyone’s going to skip ahead to Dan Slott, so who cares? You can RIGHT CLICK HERE AND SAVE THE FILE!

And yeah, Kaigon, I DO say “Good Times? a lot in this show, despite trying hard NOT to. You sonofabitch!

We ring out the new year as only we can (because who else would want to?): talking about comic books. Oh, and making inappropriate comments to Josie, who was foolish enough to join us again. Titles we spoil this week: 52 AFTERMATH THE FOUR HORSEMEN #5, ACTION COMICS #860, BATMAN #672, FREDDY VS JASON VS ASH #3, GOTHAM UNDERGROUND #3, GREEN LANTERN #26, TEEN TITANS #54, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #545, AVENGERS INITIATIVE #8, CAPTAIN AMERICA #33, DAREDEVIL #103, GIANT SIZE AVENGERS SPECIAL #1, MARVEL ZOMBIES 2 #3, NEW WARRIORS #7, THOR #5, X-MEN #206.

This is the closing show for 2007, so we’re going to discuss the best things to come out of 2007 and our predictions, hopes and fears for 2008. We’ll attempt to have Becker call into the studio to explain why he got us all excited about Killing Pickman #2 showing up this week - only to leave us weeping like children when we learned it’s late.

Soooo…One More Day is here. Needless to say, nobody in N3RD HQ is very happy. It’s amazing how badly Marvel managed to screw the pooch on this. Honestly, they probably couldn’t have screwed this up more had they set out to do so. But it’s okay, because Joe Q is awfully proud of himself.

My cousin’s one of the guys behind PBC Productions, and I’m delighted I learned of them. The Captain S videos alone make it worthwhile - I could sit through him kicking “pigs? for hours on end. I already bitched about them not having shirts fat enough for my moobs, because I really need to sport that “Everything Gets the Kick!? Tshirt. Maybe I’ll just get a baby-girl sized shirt and really freak people out… I’m sure they’d appreciate that kind of exposure!

We were happy to have Becker call in, that guy’s always a riot to talk to. Apart from being crazier than a bowel of hell, he’s a brilliant writer and created one of my favorite books that came out this year.

I can’t believe 2007 is over. Our favorite moments, of course, were drunken adventures at cons. When it comes to 2008, I think the biggest thing on our radar is the KN3EFest. We’re pretty damn excited about that, and as the insanity of the holidays starts to die down, we’re going to be gearing up for that a lot more.

That’s not even counting Team N3RD’s involvement in the MS Walk, of course. The MS Walk is the chance for all of us to earn some great karma - which we’ll desperately need, considering the very next week is the KN3EFest. Works out on a karmic level, you see?

You’re not going to believe this, but the show actually went off without a hitch. I know! I was amazed, too! Remember how the past few weeks I stayed up ridiculously late working on the show and stressing over everything? Well, last night I tried a few things out, then went to bed! None of that dedication to the show on my part! So of COURSE it went well…

Christmas has put us in a generous mood. And by “us,? I mean “me,? and by “generous? I mean “miserable bastich.? I think I figured out a number of the technical difficulties with the show and hopefully this recording’s a bit cleaner than the abomination that was last week. However, I was a tired panda and that made me grumpier than normal, so tune in to hear me completely freak out and attempt to bite everyone’s head off. God Bless us, every one indeed!

We’re joined on this show by Bruce and Steve from Dutchy Digest. When it comes to anything dealing with comic history, those guys are pretty much mandatory, because they both have a great background in comics and vast knowledge to draw from. Plus, they’re just fun to have around. Which is NOT why we brought Zach - he’s here just to be abused (again) because with the holidays, we can’t JUST abuse Rusty - we’ve got to spread that love around!

To top off our guest list, John from Glint of Hope calls in to talk about his obsession with the Hulk. When you’re talking comic love, John should be the first example you think of because that guy’s love of the Hulk is a fiery pyre that everything else can be sacrificed upon - money, housing, random people on the street - nothing is as important as the Hulk! It’s a love that’s both amazing in it’s depth and a little scary… Kind of like Sarah McLachlan and I…

We’re all fans of Calvin and Hobbes, but we’re all kind of puzzled by the extremes that Bill Watterson goes to when it comes to his art. With that in mind, I’m very curious what this movie  will be like.

The new writer of Moon Knight is saying the right things to give Dr. Sexy a stiffy, but can he deliver?

The stare is what makes videos like this completely awesome.

We only mentioned this to get HappyJack foaming. As someone that’s listening to Les Mis right now (the Complete Symphonic Recording, thank you very much), I’m interested, but I’m also very scared about Bono being involved.

Jeff Smith has a new project coming out. We had mixed feelings on Monster Society, but we’ll still have to check it out.

I’m probably crazy, but I have always been of the belief that if someone can escape your prison using a method portrayed in a movie, you’re not doing a very good job.

On the subject of escaping, Rick Marshall escaped Wizard with his sanity (mostly) intact. More impressively, he came away with his morals intact (or at least no darker than they were going in), and that’s certainly reason to be impressed. He gives a pretty interesting interview over on Comics Reporter that’s worth reading.

I wish the lovely Virginia was with us again this week. She’s a big fan of all things Serenity, so it would have been nice to have someone present that got as excited as me at the news of a Sheperds Tale comic.

We took a stroll down memory lane this show to talk about our early loves in comics. And when I say “stroll,? this is more of a “hike.? Up the side of a mountain… This is our longest show to date, and we actually cut it off early because we easily could have kept talking for at least another hour (I didn’t even bother bringing up Conan or Thor). There’s a lot of fond memories about comics when you scratch the surface of your average comic n3rd (and we’re anything but average). It was really interesting to hear some of the memories and stories about various comic titles, arcs and characters that meant a lot to all of us.

This is a long one, though. If you’ve got the better part of a day to kill, RIGHT CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE SHOW!

My apologies for the delay in posting this. I had to wedge my fat ass into an incredibly filthy, cramped crawlspace to install a ceiling fan brace. It took a day or two for the fire company to show up and cut a hole in the wall to free me.

Isn’t that how EVERYONE celebrates the holidays?

This was our sexiest show to date because we featured four of the incredibly gorgeous Renn Faire actresses (well, five, counting Steve) retelling stories of creepy stalkers at Faire. The stories are disturbing, although I think I know most of those stalkers. So sad. I think even creepier than their stories was my behavior while they were here, though. I suppose it comes from deep-seated jealousy of the other shows on Cringe Humor - when they get hot girls on their shows, the girls make out or at least spank each other (we’re looking at you, Heide). On our show? The hawtness of the girls is completely obscured by my mouth-breathing and inappropriate comments. It’s a shame, really - these were really incredibly hot girls AND geeks! Absolutely my two favoritest things in the world. If they would’ve shown up with Ben & Jerrys, I could have died a happy N3RD.

Gail is such a great writer and we respect the Hell out of her and love her dearly - but there’s a line that you just can’t cross with HappyJack and I’m afraid Gail didn’t just cross it, she drove a backhoe over it, dug it up, and planted a rose garden on it’s corpse. But it’s damn hilarious. Still doesn’t make up for my comic store making me wait for Wonder Women this week, but I take what I can get.

Blizzard was in the news a lot this week. First, because they’ve finally confirmed what everyone’s been talking about for YEARS: they’re working on a new MOG. I’m hoping for World of Starcraft myself (done as a FPS MOG a la Planetside, but better). Of course, it’ll probably be Diablo. Expect more exploding cow comics. But more shocking to some of us is the price tag that Dell put on their new custom WoW XPS laptops (and accouterments!). Personally, judging by what The Instance says is in there, it’s probably worth it. To some players. With money. Ie, not me. Although tax returns ARE coming up soon…

My buddy Chris is one of those creative comic geniuses that is always involved in cool shit so I try and pimp his stuff whenever I can. But I think I screwed this one up - I talked about the great things Rifftrax.com is doing, but I didn’t mention the awesome RiffRaff Theater project he’s doing now. Sigh. Great friend I am, right? Next I’ll talk about how much I want to jump his wife. No, wait, I already did that to someone else.

Yeah, Justin needs to get back to his comics. Just saying. Uh, and not just the Team N3 ones, either…

Goblin Bloggin’ is damn funny. I don’t think I need to say more than that, because I obviously can’t do it justice. And if I’m going to plug that, I have to plug After Hours #7 and The Dark Knight Before Christmas, they’re also good comic fun.

Jamie gets upset at Double Deuce. VIOLENTLY. So it was only natural that we all found someone to identify with in this video about Game Rage-aholicism.

I don’t know if I should be proud that I know more curse words than Stuckey and Murray or horribly ashamed that I could never do as great a job at putting them to music as they did.

Picking on Rob Liefeld might seem like beating a dead horse at this point, but obviously it needs to continue because there are STILL PEOPLE PAYING FOR HIS SHIT.

Coming into the holiday season, take a moment to throw a few dollars to Hero Initiative if you can.

Of COURSE we needed another X-Force! Because it’s always been done SOOOO well!

I was absolutely crushed to hear Molly Ringwald being a bitch. But that disappointment was counteracted by how enjoyable the Queers are to listen to, so that’s okay.

I don’t know where we stand on the Michael Turner issue as a collective, and that Power Girl cover certainly didn’t help his reputation. However, I’d still rather this guy not rant against ANY artist while Rob Leifeld’s still getting work (take THAT horsie!).

This show was a lot of fun to record, and not just because of hot girls visiting (nor the hot boys, Steve & Eli, just so I’m not accused of favoritism). I managed to get the multiple we cameras working pretty well for the live chat room stream. Granted, it’s still relatively low-quality, but you could make out the videos we were talking about (especially Dr. Sexy’s negotiating with Jamesons, my favorite of the lot). And being able to jump the cameras between who was talking was neat, even if it was a bit slow and not nearly anything CLOSELY regarding professional (I have the habit of switching to people that have been finished talking for five minutes - but being that it was usually the girls, I think that was okay with our viewing audience).

I’m going to try and NOT be the creepy fat guy next time the girls come back (and they’ve all said they wish to come back, so here’s hoping!), and I’m definitely interested in having each of them return. Ashley was very cute and is a huge Heroes/Buffy fan. Virginia is also very cute and not just into comics but also a HUGE Serenity/Firefly N3RD (now how am I NOT going to breath heavy when she’s around?). The adorable Josie is into anime AND Nintendo games. And, worst of all, Caitlyn is not only extremely cute but ALSO willing to embrace N3RDism so much she MARRIED ONE!

Seriously, I’m not sure how badly we killed the bell curve having these four collected in the same location, but alarms were no doubt going off SOMEwhere.

In this episode Rusty gives us his recap of the Mid-Ohio Comic Con. It sounds like a fantastic time, and not just because of all the incredible creators he got to hang out with. And as long as we’re talking about comic books, I should mention this week we spoil: ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN THE BOY WONDER #8, BATMAN #671, GOTHAM UNDERGROUND #2, JACK OF FABLES #17, TEEN TITANS #53, TEEN TITANS GO #49, PROOF #2, DAREDEVIL #102, FOOLKILLER #2, MOON KNIGHT ANNUAL #1, SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #41, HOPE FALLS #1, FREDDY VS JASON VS ASH #2.

CBQ should absolutely be on the payroll for Austin Grossman. Their Everything Else podcast completely inspired me to buy Soon I Will Be Invincible. Give it a listen, see if it tweaks your nips.

I can understand recognizing phantom penii after you’ve lost it, but I don’t really understand how you could differentiate between phantom va-jay-jays and your shenis once that’s in place. Obviously, I’ll leave this mystery in the capable hands of Dr. Sexy, as this is far behind mere mortals’ comprehension.

Joker news abounds today. First, I’m sure you’ve heard the image was leaked. That’s gotta be pretty disappointing to die-hard fans. Not to mention annoying as hell. On another note, the threatening police message is interesting. Have I mentioned lately I love ARGs? Oh, right, I have.

We’re all pretty big Dresden fans around here, so we’ve got mixed feelings about this comic.

I haven’t been following any of the New Frontier news, but it’s got HappyJack and Sexy pretty excited. I’ll wait till they get it and watch theirs! Yaaay, free shows!

Jonnie Allan sent us all a most excellent Thanksgiving greetings. Too bad you’re not signed up on his mailing list or you would’ve seen it, too. Loser.

Just to blow your minds: here’s a cooking wiki. No, seriously (no hidden 2girls linkage in there, I promise). The guy that runs that site is possibly one of the greatest minds in this hemisphere (despite publically admitting to being my friend), and he’s started a cooking site. If you saw some of the other projects he did, you’d be even more baffled. It’s like Einstein taking a sudden interest in Legos. But delicious Legos you could share with your loved ones… I’m actually kind of excited about posting some of our family recipes on there (don’t tell my relatives - if word gets out I’ve made public my grandmother’s secret apple pie recipe, there’s liable to be a lynching).

I had all these wonderful plans for our multi-camera broadcast this week only to have it fail miserably. Crashed the chatroom and everything. However, AFTER we finished the show, we got it running smoothly (and doesn’t THAT just figure) and we even got Rusty’s webcam working (not sure that’s a good thing, but there you go). So next week’s show should have some quality chatroom entertainment, so make sure you join in there.

Obviously, this is the best N3RDCast on record, mostly because I wasn’t there to screw it up. Ignore the really distorted theme song at the beginning - I’m not sure what was going on there, but I’m sure it’s Sexy’s fault. It probably has something to do with a wire or something. I don’t know, just listen, it sorts itself out, okay?

We’ve been playing with the Marvel Comics Online subscription. They seem to have straightened out some of their problems that were frustrating me last week (like getting billed twice). It could still use some improvement, but for researching and just catching up on old stories, it’s not bad.

No idea what this GI Joe movie is going to be like, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s going to suck horribly. I know, real risky prediction there, huh?

Speaking of crappy movies, is there any hope left for the Justic League movie? The more I hear about it, the sadder I get.

I’m sorry to hear Cable & Deadpool’s coming to an end. Although I don’t have it on my pull list, I did enjoy picking it up on occasion for a good laugh.

Sexy’s pretty excited about his prize pack from his efforts for promoting the new Batman flick. I have to confess to a bit of a thrill at seeing the newspapers we got, that was a neat touch. There’s a lot of other stuff coming out now in the viralsphere, and someone with more time than any of us could spend a lot of time investigating all sorts of links and leads involved there. Sexy called in to the phone number on this show, so that’s entertaining.

There’s a Futurama movie coming out, which promises to be pretty amusing. I’ll wait for video myself, but I’m sure it’ll be enjoyable.

Garth Ennis is a writer we all enjoy, so this article’s well worth the read. I always enjoy hearing from him - he might not be my favorite writer, but he’s definitely a great writer and I’d put him in my top ten.

I would never have guessed there’s so many sexual interests. Good thing we have a doctor of Sexology on our staff to clue us in to these things. Too bad he can’t pronounce most of them.

I don’t know which one of the gang came across Catholic High School Girls In Trouble, but we’ll blame Sexy.

I don’t understand the Stephanie significance in the Batverse, but here’s the discussion.

It’s too late for this year, but these Thanksgiving traditions are quite amusing.

CBR has some Q&A’s with Peter David that clears up my confusion over Maddrox’s dupes in the other universe’s and their orders to kill themselves so he gets their memories. If you were confused, herein lies your answer.

There’s some great looking stuff coming here, and I’m excited to see what’s going to be in store for Moon Knight.

Frank Cho’s all about sacrifices in order to finish his run on Mighty Avengers. HappyJack’s real pleased to hear about those sacrifices, so that makes for good listening.

There is possibly the most disturbing discussion on manginas in this episode that’s ever been recorded. Not quite as disgusting as the two girls and one cup video, but pretty gross nonetheless.

This would be so much easier if I could blame all the technical problems we were having on something Dr. Sexy did or on Cris from CringeHumor. Cris was a little late, sure - but his five minutes being late getting us on the server had absolutely nothing to do with it taking us another THIRTY minutes to start broadcasting. Good grief, you’d think we’re amateurs or something.

It’s a shame, really, because I wanted Dr. Sexy to run this show to get him ready for my absence next week. I was planning on him being able to see what a funny, professional and entertaining show can be accomplished if I’m not involved screwing things up. Unfortunately, I still managed to screw an awful lot of things up when I wasn’t even at the computer and was on the other side of the room.

That be my voodoo.

Once we got going, we had a lot of fun stuff to talk about. Dr. Sexy had done his usual and came to us with some follow-ups on his earlier talk of depravity. He started with I Am A Sex Addict, which is like a documentary about sex addiction if someone took Mark Borchardt, hit him in the head with a shovel, and then gave him a camera. Yeah, that’s right, I made a reference to a really obscure indy filmmaker. Google him yourself, you lazy whores!

I can’t say that I’ve ever seen Sex Toys with Katie Morgan on HBO, which is a shame because from Sexy’s description it sounds fascinating. Although the idea of a steam-powered vibrator seems a bit…frightening, to say the least. I can’t find a single bit about it on HBO, though, so maybe I’m looking at the wrong network. I’ll check with Sexy - the man’s library of strange sex shows is truly impressive, so who can say where this gem was unearthed.

Newsarama reposted the Diamond Direct Market Sales Charts and Market Share Report, and it’s a fascinating read for those of us interested in the business side of the comic book universe. Lot of charts, though, so brace yourself.

Speaking of - The Queers have called down the thunder! Well, not really - but they DID completely misquote us in this show and make us look like even bigger ignoramuseseses than we actually are, which is saying something. Since Steve is unemployed and needs a job, it’s obvious that to make things right, he has to come be our Cabana Boy. I’m not sure what that’s going to entail, but I assure you diapers will be involved.

Just like N3RDs everywhere, we all believe Bruce Campbell is a deity. Of what, we’re not sure, but it’s probably of Macho Manhood and Rugged Good Looks. But anytime we hear he’s got a new project in the works it’s always exciting - keep your fingers crossed with us!

I have very fond memories of Ghostbusters on the Commodore 64, so it’s tough to believe that another game could ever come close to how awesome it was, but this does look damn sexy. Plus, much of the original cast is returning, so yaay.

Japan does a lot of crazy shit, we all know that. But honestly - Robots Battle Raper TWO? Was the first one really that successful? What a strange country. Comes from eating dried squid, you know.

I was really excited to see that the low low price of $60 was enough to buy me a year’s access to thousands of old Marvel titles. And then it turned into $120… Honestly Marvel, I’m perfectly willing to understand you don’t have a strong web development division. That’s fine, one more department you’d have to fire when Joe drives you all into the dirt. But you can’t hire someone to do a better job than this? It seems like it should be a straight-forward experience. FIX IT NOW NOW NOW!

And get Ghost Rider in there so I can bask in the awesomeness of Water Wizard.

Dr. Sexy was foaming at the mouth with excitement over Lego Batman. I have to agree; after the fine job they’ve done with the Star Wars license I’m pretty excited to see how awesome this game could be. Er - WILL be.

Anson is the man, we all know that (but don’t anyone tell him, it’ll go to his tiny head). He’s the man THIS time because he actually approached me before I sent out any annoying emails and asked if he could start a satellite Team N3 MS Walk team. I believe he’s in Charlotte, NC, so if you’re near there and want to get involved (or if you’re somewhere else and want to create your own Team N3 goonsquad) let us know!

The Noisies are always cause for a ruckus. Mostly because it drives Sexy and HappyJack crazy that I never know any artists other than Alex Ross (and Ariel Olivetti, of course). There’s some people’s choice categories that could use some input, so make sure you check them out! Just remember - KomicsKast is spelled with K’s!

Don’t ask me about this movie. I can’t believe Sexy and HappyJack watch the cartoon. Give me Bugs Bunny any day.

So we won't be replacing the Ghostbusters anytime soon. We had a wonderful time doing the ghost hunt at Bube's Brewery, but our hunting proved very unsuccessful. It's probably mostly my fault because I have a terrible time taking these things seriously. It's not that I want to be disrespectful, it just sort of comes out. Bube's was a great place and very much the perfect setting for a good ghost story. If you're in the area, I highly recommend checking it out - and if you plan it right, you can see the most horrific sight imaginable - the Daredevils of Comedy.

AbleGamers have always been good friends of the N3RDs, so if you can spare a few bucks, drop over and help them get a booth at the IGDA conference!

The Neal Adams cover for All-Star Batman & Robin #8 is amazing. I'm sad to say I first looked at it and completely missed Batman in there. I'm such a genius...

Ronald Jenkees is the man behind our awesome Halloween intro music (and the regular music we use during non-Halloween shows). That Halloween tune is up on his site for free right now, but do yourself a favor and pop the $10 for his album; the dude knows how to jam.

It's always interesting when any of the big companies land exclusives. I wonder what sort of money is involved in landing these exclusives? I can guess it's not as much as they could make solo, but it does have health insurance and other such minor important things that go with it. Still, I'd love to hear juicy details about these sorts of deals.

You can never have enough Gail Simone news, and today's is that Wonder Woman #14 features the husband/wife art team of Terry and Rachel Dodson. Honestly, I don't know anything about them, but you can throw anything up and add Gail Simone to the subject and I'm excited.

I really love GeeksOn. They had a fantastic discussion this week on Bionics vs. Cybernetics vs. Evolution. If that's the sort of subject that interests you and you'd like to hear Geeks talking about things without profanity and stupidity ( ie, the opposite of us) then this is a show you should check out.

We were impressed that Tim Kring admitted the writing on Season Two sucked. That's a tough thing to do, being honest like that. I haven't watched the show since the second or third episode of season two, but I hope to get caught up soon.

Everyone else has discussed Dog, so we had to jump on the bandwagon. Mostly just to marvel over his idea to be buried with slaves. Brilliant, that guy...

They say this blurb about the Joker is a spoiler, but it doesn't seem to be giving too much info away. Since we did the Joker Army thing, obviously we're excited about this.

I really respect people that work hard on good comic book costumes. Having said that, I don't respect an awful lot of these folks...

That Last Starfighter cabinet is possibly the coolest thing in the world. I don't think the N3RD Studios will ever be complete until we have that thing here.

It was an interesting (albeit dry) read to see how Marvel's earnings are broken down. If you've got time to spare, I think it's worth giving it a quick read-through.

For taking pride in being N3RDs ourselves, we sure do seem keen on mocking other n3rds for what they believe/enjoy. But with these folks, I honestly can't help it. Kaigon shared that with me last week and I've been chortling ever since.

I apologize for ever sharing two girls one cup with everyone listening. In my defense, I had no idea what I was in for, and it started so nice with two pretty girls kissing. How could that be wrong, right? You'll notice there's no link to that in this post, nor will there EVER BE.

I'm REALLY hoping we had more luck encoding this show. I'd like to be able to use that fancy PuPuPlayer, and the CringeHumor site uses a Flash player, so it would sure be nice if people could actually listen to the show easily through those things. Keep your fingers crossed! But for those of you tech-savy folks, CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE SHOW!

Titles we might spoil this week: 52 AFTERMATH THE FOUR HORSEMEN #3 (OF 6), ACTION COMICS #858, BATMAN #670, JACK OF FABLES #16 (MR), JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #10, DAREDEVIL ANNUAL #1, NEW X-MEN #43, GREEN ARROW YEAR ONE #6.

Guests this show are: our friend and frequent N3RD Steven Hager, writer of the awesome Dutch Digest and extremely knowledgeable about the classic horror films; and Keith Gleason, who N3RDs will know is one of the creative geniuses behind Hero Envy. More importantly, Keith is a HUGE horror film fan, and this show is going to focus on some classic horror themes (still building up excitement for the N3RD Busters, our trip to haunted Bube’s Brewery!).

I can’t say how much I love Alan Moore’s work. The guy is an absolute genius of a writer… But apparently - as a person - he’s completely fucking insane. I don’t just mean he’s a hairy beast; I mean he is a completely obnoxious, arrogant guy that thinks he’s the Messiah of Comics.

Dr. Sexy is really excited about the idea of all of us posing for a smiley pic. And let’s face it: none of us have anything better to do next week, do we? So c’mon out, join us!

I can’t think of a lot of scary moments in the Marvel Universe, but here’s a list of some good ones. We were all pretty keen on Fraction’s choice - who’d expect a Spidey title to be so full of chills?

The Wanted trailer is pretty sweet looking. I hope it lives up to the hype!

I can’t even accomplish the FIRST step in the 300 workout; I don’t really know how anyone can finish the whole thing. With my luck, the day that I’m actually able to complete that workout would be the day the Persians show up.

I’ve been trying new encoding to get the show to play in those damn flash players correctly, but I still don’t think I’ve got it right. I can’t figure out the stupid encoding - curse you, flash! But this is the direct link to download the show (yes, newbs, click the underlined part!)

This week our guest is Rick Dakan, who is the author of one of my mostest favoritest books in the whole world, Geek Mafia This led to a brief discussion about the possibility of modern-day shadowruns. Also, apart from my fear of Rick because of the massive hacker army that is aligned with him, he’s a great guy and worth giving a listen. I enjoyed talking to him a lot, and if you haven’t checked out his book yet, now is a great time to do so.

Dr. Sexy thinks I’m just a miserable bitch incapable of enjoying anything, but I HATED this awards show. He can say whatever he likes, but it is the DUMBEST thing ever. Granted, he is right about me being a miserable bitch, but there you go…

The pumpkin stumped me at first, but it IS rotting - just in real-time, so don’t be like me and go on there expecting to see it melt over the course of a few minutes.

Dr. Sexy brought us the terrible news that they are making yet another Underworld. So damn sad - I liked the first one. Although far from great, it had some really awesome things about it (the werewolf leader chasing the car - GREAT scene). Plus, Kevin Grevioux is PIMP as a werewolf, so there.

I’m not up on the DC lore, so I had no idea who Jerry Robinson is. But it’s nice to see DC giving him props - I just hope this isn’t another Stan Lee disaster in the making.

Never mind that Alex Ross is going to be a guest of honor at the New York Comic Con; more important than that is that we’re throwing our first ever KN3EFest there! Clear your calendars, start saving your money, and get on the liver donor list now, because it’s going to be an AWESOME time.

I don’t really know how anyone can be unclear about the Rules of the Road, but I’m pretty sure if the most ignorant understands that at no time should stabbing someone really be considered polite behavior. In fact, stabbing someone simply for asking for oral is downright rude. Gas prices being what they are, I think a blowjob is in order for a ride…

Mad props to the guys at Living Corpse. We first read their book in Baltimore, but it was pretty good stuff. Their first issue is coming out, and I’m glad to see them being picked up as a movie - hopefully it’ll be treated well.

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised Millar got dissed by DC, but it still seems rather silly. If you didn’t like all the Marvel titles after his name every time he was mentioned, get him writing some of your books! Is that really so hard?

So was I the only one that thought someone else was doing the WoW comic? I have the preview lying around someplace. If I can dig it out, I’ll bitch more about that.

A very entertaining conversation about favorite horror movies takes place after our interview with Rick Dakan, so you’ll definitely want to give this show a listen.

Titles we might spoil this week: FABLES #66, CAPTAIN AMERICA #31, TERROR INC #3, BOYS #11, GEEK MONTHLY #8, MARVEL ZOMBIES 2 #1, MIGHTY AVENGERS, DEATH OF THE NEW GODS #1, JUSTICE LEAGUE, UMBRELLA ACADEMY #2.

Topic of this show is indy comics, general comics BS’ing, and upcoming comic cons - we have to start making our plans, so enjoy our livers while they still function!

Guest this show:
JS Earls - Writer of The Sorrow, Pistolfist, - translator to English on Space, -translating novel to comic for volume 3 of The Circle Trilogy (White), - big brain behind the Frameworks project, - pusher of www.wowio.com. Essentially a guy making a name for himself in the comics biz and a good source of info and ideas.

Completely unplanned, Jason Becker also calls in, but he’s there mostly to insult us. He might be the Q!PaW’s Talent To Watch, but around here, he’s the N3RDCast Rotten Bastich! Put THAT in your trophy case, mister!

At least now we know what Pulsar has been up to while he’s away from us: Making white music. Good on him, it’s nice to see someone carry on the mantle previously held by such luminaries as Snow and Vanilla Ice.

William Moulton Marston, creator of Wonder Woman, was goddamned PIMP. I’m not saying let’s build statues to the guy, but… Maybe a swingers club named in his honor?

Speaking of Wonder Woman, everyone needs to listen to the CBQ’s latest episode. They go into Wonder Woman in great depth (insert your own joke here), and anyway they’re just an incredibly entertaining listen anyway, so there.

It’s great that The Mediocre Show joined the Cringe Humor Radio family. Just what we needed, ANOTHER show that’s about ten MILLION times more entertaining than us. Thanks a lot, guys.

Nobody else seems excited about ghostbusting as I am, but that’s just because they don’t have the proper motivation (ie, Jamesons). I think in order to PROPERLY investigate these ghosties, we’ll need to be good and drunk. I mean, let’s face it: if there’s a state of mind that thins the veil between this world and the next, I can’t think of a concoction better suited. We might not be seeing ghosts, per se, but we’ll certainly be seeing SOMETHING.

Probably HappyJack projectile vomiting across the bathroom, but there you go.

We’re gearing up for the Halloween party at Darve & Darth Debs. I’m not saying Kwipette and I have the greatest costume EVER… But we pretty much have the greatest costume EVER. I’ll be sure to post pics, don’t worry (I know the thought of missing those photos keeps you up at night!).

This week we’ll also be at the National MS Society’s conference. I’m actually doing a (very!) brief presentation about blogging, so don’t be surprised if Kaigon, HappyJack and/or Dr. Sexy deface the site just in time for me to show it off on the big screen in front of all the attendees at the conference. So if you see the entire site covered in, let’s just say, penii, you’ll know why.

They’re funny guys like that.

Honestly people, is it THAT hard to sort through all the links I post and figure out THIS IS THE LINK YOU WANT TO CLICK TO LISTEN TO THE SHOW?

As always, feel free to send us hatemail telling us how boring we are:

Titles we might spoil this week: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #7, LOBSTER JOHNSON THE IRON PROMETHEUS #2, DETECTIVE COMICS #837 , JACK OF FABLES #15, JLA HITMAN #2, GREEN LANTERN CORPS #16, METAL MEN #1, 2, 3, ESSENTIAL MOON KNIGHT VOL 2, ACTION COMICS #856, COUNTDOWN 29, 30, PAUL JENKINS SUPER SUMMER SIDEKICK SPECTACULAR #2, HOWARD THE DUCK #1, SUPER VILLAIN TEAM UP MODOKS 11 #4, MARVEL ADVENTURES SPIDER-MAN #32, UNCANNY X-MEN #491, PARADE WITH FIREWORKS #2, IRON MAN: ENTER THE MANDARIN #2, JOHAH HEX #24, and METAMORPHO #1.

Without HappyJack to rein us in, our nerddom surges to the forefront and we go a little crazy. We have Bruce and Eli along, but Bruce sits in a horrified stupor as we geek out, and Eli is only there to encourage us, so that’s no help. This show, also known as, “The show that Jim’s going to kick himself for not being in town to join in on,? focuses on Larp-ing. From RPS to foam swords to LIGHTNING BOLT!, we’ll cover our own experiences and those of our friends.

Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about Larping but were afraid to admit in public!

Guests this show:
“Inox? - President of Darkon, the “boffer? larp featured in the documentary “Darkon?

We start out the show with discussions regarding my danger to bikers attempting to pass me on the sidewalk when I’m listening to the Queers. Honestly, the fault is entirely theirs - were I not so caught up in their discussion of their top five trades, I’m SURE my spider sense would’ve warned me of impending danger…

We then psychoanalyze an obviously homo-erotic dream Dr. Sexy had about the Hero Envy guys. I felt dirty after hearing it, frankly.

Speaking of, Keith from Hero Envy calls in (and Mike’s in the chatroom), and while we heap praise upon them for the brilliance of Requiem for an Autobot, the talk rapidly devolves to our combined team for the Darkon sojourn. I feel safe with both HappyJack AND JD on my team, but I’d feel a LOT safer if I knew they weren’t going to decide it’d be more fun to beat MY ass…

Another phone message from Jason Becker - I’m not sure what he’s thinking. Of COURSE we’re going to play every message he leaves us - nobody else ever calls us, why wouldn’t we play his? Besides, he can usually be counted on to be funnier than us anyway, so we HAVE to play them.

This is probably one of the zaniest shows to date. Our sides hurt from laughing after we were finished! Which is a sure indicator that absolutely NOBODY ELSE ON THE PLANET will find this show even SLIGHTLY amusing.

Therefore, if you laugh at this, you’re an alien.

We only briefly touch on our books this week because we have too many guests, but we cover: ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN #3, IMMORTAL IRON FIST #9, IMMORTAL IRON FIST ANNUAL #1, JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #13, CAPTAIN AMERICA CHOSEN #2, FRANKLIN RICHARDS MONSTER MASH, AVENGERS INITIATIVE #6.

Guests this show:
Jonnie Allan - creative powerhouse behind one of our favorite indy books, Stykman, and THE Con specialist.
Chris Hanel - co-writer and Special Effects Supervisor on the Star Wars fan film “Return of Pink Five? and one of the Big Giant Heads at Geekza (and make sure to check out The Formula).
Mike Hopta - Writer/Director/Actor/Editor for Hero Envy.

We also discuss the idea of the N3RDBusters - while watching Ghost Hunters, it occured to Kwipette and I that we have a lot of the same equipment that they do, so we could do pretty much the same thing, with two major differences: 1) We don’t know what the HELL we’re doing, and 2) We’d do it completely drunk. How can that NOT be fun?!?! Sexy’s already spooked by the thought of visiting a staged haunted house, so how much more fun would it be to visit a “REAL? haunted house (and no, before you ask, I don’t believe in ghosts, but I am afraid of crazy homeless people in abandoned places, so I’d still be scared).

Speaking of haunted, HappyJack is cursed, I tell you. It’s unfortunate that the people that actually invoke the curse aren’t the ones struck by it, but that just ensures I’m going to be the FIRST to say nice things about his future books.

We talk some movie junk, too, since Dr. Sexy just saw Fantastic Four 2 and didn’t hate it, and that leads to a discussion covering many of the recent animated comic movies.

April next year is going to be insane. First up for us will be the MS Walk, then the NY Comic Con, and THEN the Pittsburgh Comic Con! My liver’s already begun whining…

Sexy and HappyJack watch some strange TV. But I have to confess that Kid Nation show sounds interesting (insert mandatory Lord of the Flies joke).

I was very interested to read this article about Platinum Studios going public at CBR; not just because I want to buy stock in them, but also because it’s an interesting article overall.

I had to fit in some of Big B’s “White Trash Life? in this show. Love that guy.

The show download is here. That PuPuPlayer’s been shitting out lately, so I’m not bothering with a link this time. So there. FIGURE IT OUT!

So the big news this week was that we had Ted “Pulsar? Stoltz, our skilled sound engineer, along to abuse. And still somehow I managed to screw up every single piece of equipment in the studio…

No, that’s actually not news, it’s olds. NEWS is that Gail Simone called in this week! Last week, she was confused a bit - when I told her Noon EST (Eastern Standard Time), she was thinking GST (Gail Simone Time, which is the time zone you’re in when you don’t want to talk to a bunch of N3RDs who are going to make a bunch of stupid comments). This week we got it straightened out, though, and Gail endured our shitty connection (and even shittier conversation) to enlighten us with her thoughts on Jeff Smith’s Marvels, Wonder Woman versus apes and Nazis, and Bigfoot hunting.

We discussed our books, but I’m far too lazy to type them all out again (beside, I’d have to listen to the show again to get them all, and who’s got time for THAT?). I think (and thank Gord I posted to our fancy new forums with this) they were: UMBRELLA ACADEMY #1, CAPTAIN AMERICA #30, IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN #12, MARVEL COMICS PRESENTS #1, NEW X-MEN #42, PENANCE RELENTLESS #1, TERROR INC #2, WORLD WAR HULK #4. Probably missed someone, but meh, what can you do.

We then talked about keeping in touch with MOG friends, and what better way to do that than GuildCafe.com? We spoke with Sanya Weathers from that same site, and I gave her my MILLION-DOLLAR idea. For FREE! I’m nice like that (but I better get that Champion Level, dammit!).

Finally, we wrapped up the show with some info about ourselves for the lucky souls that haven’t listened to the show before. We broke down our five movies that most defined us (although I think Ted got away with only 3?), and had a bit of a round-table discussion about them. I have to admit, that was a pretty damn fun segment to do - partly because I didn’t have to worry about f’ing up the Skype connection, but mostly because even knowing HappyJack and Sexy as well as I do, I was still surprised by some of their choices. I botched mine, though - I totally should’ve swapped Aliens out for Empire, ya know?

We cut the show short right at 3 so Sexy, Kwipette and I could speed up to Reading to attend 300, and that was a damn fine time. We’ll be talking about it NEXT week, so make sure you tune in!

I’m trying something new this show - instead of breaking the show into 3 smaller segments, I left it as one gianormous one, because this is 2007, get high-speed already, you cavemen. Plus, out of our five listeners, I think the only ones that were still on dial-up were Kaigon and my mom. Well, Kaigon’s moved and up to speed, and my mom shouldn’t be listening to this rubbish anyway, so there you go.

Once again, for the slow folks, here’s the link or feel free to use the PuPuPlayer (but I think this thing plays us in chipmunk mode, so be warned):

I apologize for the delay in today’s post. Something was screwy with the server all day today. Hopefully it’s all straightened out, and now you can enjoy this in all it’s audio goodness.

For today’s N3RDCast, I interviewed Justin “Kaigon” Parks, who some of you might have possibly heard of

Yes, he’s obviously a friend, but the interview format is the way I’ve decided to go with the N3RDCasts. I’m not famous in the MOG world, not a shaker nor a mover (unless you’re talking about when I fall down…), but I DO know a lot of people – really interesting people – in the MOG world. And most of them are really fun to talk to, and (hopefully) I can share some of the pleasure I get talking to these people with you. And if we happen to talk about a current or future MOG they’re working on – hey, all the better!

They’re not all going to be cartoonist friends of mine, of course. Kaigon made a good ‘test subject’ because: A) He’s a funny guy, and I love his comic (as you should too, suckah!), and B) he knows what an idiot I am so he’s more than willing to put up with my struggles as I attempt to figure out how to work that there computery thingy.

It was neat, too, just to be able to talk to him about his work. I really do love his comics and just the way he can draw. There’s tons more I could’ve bugged him to explain, but I’ll save that for another day when I offend a future guest and they cancel at the last minute…

I’m also fiddling with the file sampling to get it down to a MUCH smaller size (which you’ll notice with this one). I’ll take 9 megs over 29 megs any day, thanks.

I’ve also got an intro & outro ’soundtrack’ for us. I’m not sure if I’m going to stick with that – it was made by my little brother, and he gave it to me for free, so I certainly can’t complain! But I think I’m going to pick one of his royalty-free tunes and actually PAY for one. I’d like to have a CUSTOM theme song (a la Blank Label Podcast – which is THE best podcast you can hear on the web, in my opinion).

I’m still considering hosting options. I don’t know how our sever’s going to hold up with a lot of large files being downloaded, but I’ll see how it looks, and I’m still sniffing around for other hosting hoptions.

So there you have it. Take a listen, let me know what you think. I am, of course, open to suggestions about who you’d like to hear me interview. I have a number of developers lined up to interview, but I’m always on the lookout for more cool froods to sass.

Oh – and in case you failed to notice, the archives are stocked. The archive page doesn’t work for shit, though. I’m still working on that, but you can page (and page and page and page) back through the calendar navigation to get all the way back to 2000 (dear Gord, can you believe I’ve been writing that long? Sheesh!). If you happen to know of a GOOD archive (and I’m talking one that’s all purty-like, like the one at PvP) that works with WordPress, I swear to Gord I will… I don’t know, send you some Lancaster Beef Jerky or something.
